My husband, 2 year old, and I had dinner here on a Wednesday evening around 6. We shared a Meatball Pizza, my toddler had Ravioli, and my husband and I each had a salad. For being a pizza place I was surprised to find that the salads were better than the Pizza. I had a Honey Ginger Salad which included grilled chicken, crispy wonton strips, napa cabbage, onion, peanuts, and greens with a honey ginger balsamic dressing. My salad was fantastic. My husband had the Chicken Paillard salad, this had an uncut grilled chicken cutlet partially dressed with pesto sauce under a salad of mixed greens and parmesan cheese. He really enjoyed that as well. My toddlers ravioli off the kids menu was fairly standard, the marinara was a bit sharp but the Ricotta inside was substantial and well seasoned. The pizza wasn't terrible exactly, but despite having a brick oven there was no real flavor to the dough. The crust was rather bland. The other issue was that under all the toppings (slices of meatball, tons of mozzarella, and huge clumps of ricotta) the crust towards the middle was practically mush when we tried to cut a slice for our daughter. There was plenty of flavor in the toppings, they almost fought with each other a bit and felt a touch salty to me. We by no means hated our meal, but were surprised to find salads were the better thing to have in a pizza place. Service wise, we were placed in a back room with a few other people, there we seemed to be forgotten about a bit, and we even had to request plates to eat the pizza on. When we asked for sweetener for our coffee it took awhile before it was brought to us. People were being sat across from a window where the sun was in their eyes, even though other tables were empty. So service was lacking a bit. I think this was more our waitress and not an overall issue, we did see other wait staff being fairly attentive to their tables, some not so much. When we arrived there were still several available parking spots, but as we left all of this was fairly full though there were still empty tables inside, so parking may be an issue if you come during a busy time. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back here, if I did come back I'd probably not do...
Read moreThis cosimos was awful. First I got a blackened steak salad. It's usually pretty good. At this place I got the steak near raw. Now I don't mind a good medium on the steak but the steak tips had a cool center and were just not appetizing to me. I simply let them know and she brought the salad back and and the "chefs" which I use the term very loosely, decided to put them back on the grill and bring it back out to me. So here I am with these pieces of rubber from being cooked twice, and a bunch of lettuce just sitting in a pile of watery steak juice and dressing. It looked so so so unappetizing and I just couldn't stomach it. If they came seperate I would have been able to eat the now-rubber steak and enjoyed the salad but the fact they just kept it all together was just so gross. Now let's talk about service. We waited 15 minutes between our waitress coming to our table. It wasn't busy at all might I add. I saw the other waiters and waitresses multiple times. I was able to squeeze in a refill on my drink once but she messed up and gave me regular instead of diet. Easy mistake but that could be an issue if it had been someone with a sugar sensitivity like diabetes, even though I clearly and nicely asked "would you mind getting me another diet please?" And she responded and confirmed with exactly the same. Lastly, a party member of ours spilled olive oil on the table. Like a good amount. We only had our permanent napkins so I didn't want to dirty them for their sake. After the first 15 minutes of waiting for her, she came to take our order. We were humble and said we accidentally spilled the oil on the table and showed her the big pool of it. She said she'd go get paper towels and just never returned or even got within eyesight to grab her. Over the next 15 minutes we watched it move across the table so I finally just used my napkin to clean it up. I just didn't want to soak a linen in a giant pool of oil. When our food came I let her know and it's like she didn't even remember seeing the spill. This was an aweful experience and Cosimos, I love your food but you've lost a customer. At least the Woodbury location. I just have no interest in spending money...
Read moreAbsolutely would not recommend this place. First, when we entered, we were IMMEDIATELY sat. The host was bringing us to our table when some bald guy in a button-down plaid shirt bumped into my boyfriend. My boyfriend apologized to the man but when he turned to look at him, he said nothing and walked away. We thought he was some random drunk guy so we thought nothing of it. It took 15 minutes to finally receive our menus after being seated. Another 10 minutes for our drinks (which were 2 glasses of water) and then we waited to order our food which our waiter did not come back for another 20 minutes. While we waited for our food to arrive we saw the same bald man with a plaid shirt seating people. Then we realized he was the manager. Immediately we wanted to leave. Didn't help that our food arrived. The food was delicious and we often go to the Cosmos in Middletown so I ordered the same thing. We finished our food and not only did we have to wait another 30 minutes (after we were done) till our waiter came back, we had empty glasses and he was NOWHERE to be seen. We saw 4 other tables around us and their servers were MIA. They would go into the kitchen and rarely come out. Once we finally saw our waiter, he did not come back to our table for another 10-15 minutes. We asked for the dessert menu but figured we'd leave since even if we wanted dessert, we wouldn't receive it for another week. Our waiter did not come back for ANOTHER 10 minutes. We asked for the check and instead of coming back with our change, he was taking newly seated tables. At this point, I've had enough. I would not recommend this place BECAUSE of the service. The food is the same in the other Cosmos in Middletown and I'm very upset about the way they handled...
