I found myself on an hours-long drive due to some last minute circumstances so I didn't have time to plan ahead about meals that were safe for my Celiac Disease lifestyle. I knew that Shake Shack offered a gluten-free burger option, so when I saw this was just off of the highway, I decided to stop in. It was a very busy Sunday in this shopping district, full of many impatient people who were very hungry and the line was a bit long for orders due to kiosk malfunctions. While I was not impressed with the clientele or their rude ways of not picking up after themselves and making a mess of the establishment, I have to praise the staff here for their ability to provide excellent service despite the rush of rude customers. When I approached the counter, Zai met me with a smile, kind greeting, and readiness to take my order. I knew the pace was fast around me so I started by saying, "I have Celiac Disease, which is like a gluten allergy but will also require a glove change and my food to not touch anything else that might expose it to gluten." Zai may or may not have ever heard of this before but he immediately slowed down and took his time placing my order to ensure every single thing he put into the computer was correct and carefully noted. He asked clarifying questions and then advocated for me with the kitchen team. I felt so comforted by this true concern and care for my health and that it mattered more to get it right for me than to appease the demands of the crowd who expected service to be as quick as a fast food drive though. Receiving my order didn't take much longer than that, surprisingly, and it was carefully separated out from the person who was with me and ordered gluten-containing items in the same order as mine. We each grabbed our bag and were instructed about the soda fountain for me to fill my own, and the sauces available to us. Sadly, the crowds do not keep those places clean, but the staff actively comes and wipes them down as frequently as possible. I am so impressed with how the team manages these conditions, which I am sure must be stressful to work in. And they do so with grace, humility, and a smile. I enjoyed my delicious burger in the parking lot, as the place was packed inside and I preferred the silence with 2 hours of driving still ahead of me. The burger was truly worth the entire experience. I believe Zai and some of the others there could truly make an impact in whatever jobs they choose next in life, because they have the work ethic to do more than what they're doing now. I leave this review hoping that other customers can see them and appreciate them for all they're doing and in hopes they might also receive recognition from their corporate office, and be cared for in terms of their employment. This a team that deserve it because they go above and beyond when conditions aren't easy for them to do so. Thank you, Zai, and the rest of the staff at the Woodbury Commons...
Read moreShake shack makes a great first time burger experience for the uninitiated. It has still kept its consistency over the years when it first started out in its central location in thr flatiron area of nyc. I remember waiting line for an hour to get their burger and shakes. Local and tourists alike love this place.
It has certainly made a great name for itself as a rival to California's In-N-Out Burger. Now, shake shack would be considered a standard for the more premium franchise burger establishments. I recommend sticking to their standard shake shack burger and make it a double. For lighter eaters, a single stack is more than enough. Grab a black and white custard shake and you are set to go.
Food is good. It's definitely heavy though, and your stomach will tell you so. It did for me. This is a teenagers meal.
Service is quick and courteous. Given how packed the restaurant was during Father's day weekend, it was reasonable to wait a bit longer for our food. Took around 10-15min.
Atmosphere today was loud and crowded. Definitely too many people inside the restaurant, but it's to be expected. With so many people, I was thinking they might be breaking some fire codes. It was also messy around the trash areas, but workers were trying at least to keep some semblance of cleanliness. Bathrooms though I would skip on a very busy weekend. Bathrooms are small and there is a long line for women.
Spent $73.95 for 5 burgers, 3 custards...
Read moreOverall, it was OK. Now, the men washroom was filthy and the floor full of tissues at the time we entered and when we left after 30 min from our entrance. The mirror seemed like no one cleaned it in weeks and when you walk to the washroom (narrow hallway), there was dirt and fries on the floor which isn't appetizing and actually puts you off. Not sure if they have a store manager (mostly young staff) but they definitely need more attention. Even the seating area and tables weren't clean either on an 8-9 PM visit tonight but there was an employee scratching the surface. Now, I would understand if they are busy straight non stop but when we arrived it was a slightly less busy than when we tried to leave.
Now, we ordered food for 2 people and it took them 19+ min to get our meals where the burgers were warm not hot and apparently been sitting for a few minutes. The fries were hot in great condition. Their chicken nuggets breading was falling apart and wasn't hot either and it seems that they weren't using the right oil temperature but the flavor was good. My burger was a little greasy but smashed right and to my liking of taste. My friend didn't enjoy his burger. He thinks it was was one of lower quality Shake Shack stores we have been to.
Overall, a good experience but I would expect a little more for $50 tax included for 2 meals and specifically the cleanliness of the store...
