DON’T DO IT!! I read the reviews before I went and I said, how bad could it be? Well, I’m telling you it was really bad!
My husband and I got there around 12 noon. There were already a couple people sitting at tables throughout the restaurant. In our section, there was one other table that our waiter had. He came to the table and asked if we wanted water. He then brought over a bottle and poured some into our glasses, which tasted horrible. As soon as I sat down, I saw there was food stuck to my silverware, I put that to the side. I felt bad pointing that out so eventually, I told the waiter I had dropped my fork and could I get a new one.
He then came over to take our order. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and the pizza knots as appetizers. We then both ordered baked ziti as our entrées. I tried to ask the waiter if the baked ziti came with extra sauce on it and he could not grasp what I was asking. We had to keep going back-and-forth and I had to keep explaining what I was asking and he finally got it. I just didn’t want extra sauce on top of my baked ziti. I actually had to read the menu to figure that out.
They brought out our appetizers pretty quick, and I tried the mozzarella sticks, which were very dry and crumbly, and it had absolutely no flavor. The sauce that came with the mozzarella sticks to dip them in, also was like water. I then tried a Pizza knot which were not good either. The Pizza knots seemed good at first, but as I was eating one I encountered the middle being very chewy and at first I thought there was cheese inside of them, which I did not see on the menu then I figured out that the middle of the pizza knots were just full of raw dough and that’s why the middles were chewy! The sauce that the knots came with, also was like water. A couple minutes later, the waiter came back with our entrées of baked ziti.
Again, this big ziti was horrible. There was a big dollop of ricotta cheese on top of the brick of big ziti that was cold. My plate had watery sauce on the bottom of the baked ziti and my Husband‘s had a tiny little bit of sauce under his ziti. He had also requested meat sauce for the side of his baked ziti, which he told me was cold when it came out. The baked ziti was hard as a rock. It tasted burnt. The cheese was like eating hard paint. Just awful! I took a couple bites and couldn’t do it anymore and just put it to the side. The waiter finally came by, and we asked him for refills of our sodas, which he then brought back maybe 20 minutes later as I was requesting the check, he never asked us how the food was. He never checked on us. He didn’t even care that we really didn’t eat 90% of the food on the table , Because they had also sat four more tables at the same time in his section so he had no time to even come over to our table and ask us if everything was OK. He then brought over this little electronic device for me to pay with, while he held it in my face, and tried to explain to me And the food is horrible really his fault but at first, I was going to leave cash tip, but then I felt uncomfortable, not putting a tip on the electronic device that he was waving in my face and trying to explain to me how to leave a tip. The bottom line is don’t do it. This place is obviously a tourist trap and the...
Read moreCame here for dinner with my family, party of 6. We made a reservation, so there was no wait.
We ordered three things to share as starters: the calamari, the fried zucchini, and the arugula salad. These three starters were the highlight of the dinner. The calamari and zucchini were fresh out of the fryer, still crisp, and so delicious! They were seasoned perfectly and had a decent portion for sharing. I particularly liked how the calamari also came with lightly battered and fried jalapenos, they paired perfectly as a bite. The arugula salad was also wonderful. It was simple, just arugula, toasted almonds, parmesan, and a lovely fig vinaigrette (with some decent-sized chunks of dried figs). What would have been nice was if there was a single sized portion for the appetizers and a sharing sized portion.
All other food was just a degree below fine. All around, the food was underseasoned and generally, the portions were smaller than expected for the price point. I ordered the lemon garlic chicken, which had a nice crisp skin and a delicious sauce but no flavor in the actual chicken. The side of spicy rotini pasta was fine. Not much flavor aside from being spicy I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was moist and not dry though! My boyfriend got the eggplant parm platter with a side of rotini. Underseasoned. Usually, he's not a fan of spicy food, but the side pasta was a manageable level of spice.
My sister and mother both got sandwiches. They were disappointed to find that the bread was slightly warmed and not toasted to give the sandwiches a much-needed crisp. My sister's boyfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs, just your standard spaghetti and meatballs. My father had the penne scampi, which was the smallest portion size by far. He requested that it be spicy, but it paled in comparison to the spicy rotini pasta and could've used some salt and pepper as well.
Overall the experience was fine. If my mother weren't there, I wouldn't write her...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this place. The food was such a letdown, just awful. Not below average—terrible. Do not waste your money or time. The garlic bread looked like an Italian bread, but tasted like drab white toast. It tasted a little like parmigiana, but we did not get any garlic flavor at all, and it was begging for salt and some olive oil. We were so hungry, but after we both tried the garlic bread, we passed it up hoping the main course would be better. The chicken parm sandwich was dry and very thin—typically I love a thin and crispy chicken parm—but there was only one piece of the withered, over-fried chicken, so up against the mountain of dry, tasteless bread, it had no chance and seemed as if it was left out of the seasoning process anyway. The fusilli bolognese which was listed as,”homemade fresh pasta with slow cooked meat sauce,” was gummy and had less appeal, less flavor, and less meat than a canned beefaroni pasta. Seriously, the bolognese was a paste. We packed everything up to go and pretended we had to leave because we felt bad for the server. The entire meal was terrible. The service staff was friendly, but the restaurant seemed to have the feel of a place on its last legs. Even though there was seating available outside, we were told there was “no staff working outside.” They said we could order food“to go” and then take it and eat it outside if we wanted. (In hindsight, this would have been the better option saving everyone the embarrassment.)
The wine. The wine was serviceable.
I know this review sounds harsh, but it is accurate; if you are going to charge $8 for bad, dry, white toast, and triple that for inedible chicken and pasta, you need to hear the truth. Do better, Parm. You are charging people a lot of money, and touting your food as “famous Italian.” People work hard to go out to enjoy a meal together. This was an insult to the people buying AND the people that had...
