Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Towson

I am VERY disappointed in their manager, Sarah. I arrived home, not even 3 bites into my gelati, only to find the LONGEST, coarsest, dark hair in it. As soon as I realized what I had just pulled out of my mouth, I called to make them aware of what I had found in my dessert and to also see if I can come back tomorrow evening to get a new one because I figured this was a fluke, however, I was greeted on the other end by someone with a slight attitude and sly tone. I asked to speak to the manager to which the girl responds that she is the manager, and I proceed to tell her what occurred and if it would be at all possible to come by tomorrow afternoon to get a new one, since this one repulsed me due to the severity of the hair, to which she responds in a very childish, unprofessional tone, “umm I would say no” as if she didn’t know their policy and was not one bit sympathetic to the fact that I was served contaminated food. Not once throughout the conversation did she apologize for the hair.

The way that she spoke and handled the situation made me feel as though the store was being run by high schoolers. The conversation ended with her saying bye and hanging up the phone - almost as if your teenage daughter was mad because you wouldn’t let her borrow the family car - completely full of attitude and a sense of rudeness. Needless to say, it seems as if more training needs to be done in regard to handling situations of this nature. Came here on Sunday 05/25/25. I simply came to this location because they were the closest location to me that stayed open until 10pm. I arrived at 9pm and was turned away saying they were “closed”. I went back to my car to Double check what time they close online and it said 10 PM. I went back to the window to ask for clarification, and was repeatedly told “we’re closed” by a girl with blonde hair trying to get smart. There was another girl in there with short black hair, who kept on laughing and ki-ki-ing with her friend. Being that I drove 17 min just for this was disappointing. Love RITAs. Flavors are GREAT! I think the staff could do a better job of handling the cups and money. When they grab the cups, they stick their fingers inside if the cup and they should grab from the outside only. They should not scratch their face, scratch their hair or touch their cell phone if they are sticking their fingers inside of a cup.

They can be inconsistent- some times, I can get a pup cup and other times they tell me they never offer them at this facility.

Overall, I think RITAs is great. I love that they hire school aged children and I appreciate they mission. I recommend they...
