Alright cousins, Doc back outside, true to this, never new to this, and today Bobby Dâs in Towson got the spotlight.â đ¶ïžđ
Small, niche Caribbean spot, the kind where the flavorâs supposed to hit before the music does. Service was friendly and quick enough, no side-eyes needed. Started off strong with the jumbo shrimp and fries, fried hard, crispy, and fresh enough to earn a slow nod of respect. Added some plantains and cocoa bread, and yeah, those hit like home, warm, soft, and exactly what you want with a cold drink in hand.
Now the main plate⊠oxtail, rice & beans, and mac & cheese. The oxtail? Tender, but the flavor didnât clock in for the full shift. Rice & beans leaned more African-style, a little dry but edible. Mac & cheese held its own, not bad, just not that âlet me text somebody about thisâ good.
Overall? Solid 6.5 to 7 outta 10. Itâs giving âneighborhood staple with potential,â not âtell-mama-to-get-her-purse.â The apps and sides carried, but the mains stayed humble. Still, I might spin back for that carrot cake because self-control left the chat. đ„đ
So if youâre in Towson, pull up and try it yourself, maybe your taste buds catch what mine missed. Either way, tell âem Doc sent you. Lastly very...

I ordered two orders of jerk wings, salmon, rice & peas, vegetables, mac and cheese. Overall, all the meats could have been cooked a bit longer. Everything was just barely done. I understand the wings are smokedâŠ.smoke them longer. SalmonâŠbroil it longer. Again, nothing was raw, but everything was barely done. Same with the vegetables. The jerk sauce is a jerk bbq vs. traditional jerk. I would have preferred a real jerk sauce. Please season the food more and in a traditional way. No need to appease the neighborhood at all. Cook the food as if youâre cooking for your family at home. The mac & cheese had a cheese sauce rather than real cheese with no seasoning or even salt & pepper. I also understand this isnât a traditional Jamaican dish.
I tasted the Rasta pasta and it was good. If Iâm ever in the business of blowing calories, I would...
Read moreI have been wanting to try Chef, Bobby Dâs since its original location on Falls Road and it did not disappoint. The highlight was the oxtail and beans and rice. It was absolutely phenomenal. We got the family meal of ribs and four sides and it was plenty for us. We also really enjoyed the smoked Jamaican jerk, chicken wings. The wings were very needy and was incredible. My son also raved about the plantains. Everyone I talk to is incredibly friendly and courteous and thorough. They were conscientious because they noticed that they had put a different sauce on our wings and quickly fixed it without much delay. Our food came 20 minutes early which was awesome. But the real reason that Iâm leaving. This review is that they are takeout containers are recyclable plastic and their bags are biodegradable. Itâs wonderful to see a company. Taking the environment into account. We will...
