Alright cousins, Doc back outside, true to this, never new to this, and today Bobby D’s in Towson got the spotlight.ā€ šŸ•¶ļøšŸ›

Small, niche Caribbean spot, the kind where the flavor’s supposed to hit before the music does. Service was friendly and quick enough, no side-eyes needed. Started off strong with the jumbo shrimp and fries, fried hard, crispy, and fresh enough to earn a slow nod of respect. Added some plantains and cocoa bread, and yeah, those hit like home, warm, soft, and exactly what you want with a cold drink in hand.

Now the main plate… oxtail, rice & beans, and mac & cheese. The oxtail? Tender, but the flavor didn’t clock in for the full shift. Rice & beans leaned more African-style, a little dry but edible. Mac & cheese held its own, not bad, just not that ā€œlet me text somebody about thisā€ good.

Overall? Solid 6.5 to 7 outta 10. It’s giving ā€œneighborhood staple with potential,ā€ not ā€œtell-mama-to-get-her-purse.ā€ The apps and sides carried, but the mains stayed humble. Still, I might spin back for that carrot cake because self-control left the chat. šŸ„•šŸ˜Ž

So if you’re in Towson, pull up and try it yourself, maybe your taste buds catch what mine missed. Either way, tell ’em Doc sent you. Lastly very...

Stopped by after trick-or-treating. The woman taking orders in the front was welcoming, patient and open to answering questions. The place was clean and bright.

I ordered two orders of jerk wings, salmon, rice & peas, vegetables, mac and cheese. Overall, all the meats could have been cooked a bit longer. Everything was just barely done. I understand the wings are smoked….smoke them longer. Salmon…broil it longer. Again, nothing was raw, but everything was barely done. Same with the vegetables. The jerk sauce is a jerk bbq vs. traditional jerk. I would have preferred a real jerk sauce. Please season the food more and in a traditional way. No need to appease the neighborhood at all. Cook the food as if you’re cooking for your family at home. The mac & cheese had a cheese sauce rather than real cheese with no seasoning or even salt & pepper. I also understand this isn’t a traditional Jamaican dish.

I tasted the Rasta pasta and it was good. If I’m ever in the business of blowing calories, I would...

I have been wanting to try Chef, Bobby D’s since its original location on Falls Road and it did not disappoint. The highlight was the oxtail and beans and rice. It was absolutely phenomenal. We got the family meal of ribs and four sides and it was plenty for us. We also really enjoyed the smoked Jamaican jerk, chicken wings. The wings were very needy and was incredible. My son also raved about the plantains. Everyone I talk to is incredibly friendly and courteous and thorough. They were conscientious because they noticed that they had put a different sauce on our wings and quickly fixed it without much delay. Our food came 20 minutes early which was awesome. But the real reason that I’m leaving. This review is that they are takeout containers are recyclable plastic and their bags are biodegradable. It’s wonderful to see a company. Taking the environment into account. We will...

You guys voted for Caribbean food on my story poll so Caribbean food it is! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to check out @Chef BobbyD Restaurant 🤯 @Deke_DC and I were bouncing around Towson, and @MINJE strongly recommended that we go so we hit them up for a late lunch 🄰 Here’s what we got: ā–ŖļøJamaican Chicken Rasta Pasta ($20.95): their food EXPLODES with flavor! This pasta was unreal, and Deke and I both made the exact same ā€œYUMā€ face after taking our first bites. This was penne tossed in a ā€œmild jerk parm cream sauceā€ (that’s in quotes because it def had some heat to it, lol) with grilled jerk chicken breast. The pasta was a little soft for my taste (I typically like al dente), but the flavors were so good I didn’t even care. The portion was generous, and we still had a good amount leftover after we went HAM on it. 11/10. ā–ŖļøReggae Jam Coconut Shrimp ($14): you guys gotta get this app! WOW. We loved this so, so much. This is another 11/10 for me. They gave you 4 big pieces of succulent shrimp, and it was cooked to utter perfection. And the coconut curry sauce it came in, MAN! Unbelievably good. They gave us coco bread with the dish, and it was perfect for dipping. Deke actually made liddol sandwiches with them which I thought was adorable, lol. ā–ŖļøJerk Wings (6 for $9.95): These were hickory smoked then charred. Jerk was recommended, but they have various flavors available! This was probably my least fave dish of the bunch, but I still enjoyed it. I def want to try the mango habanero next time though. ā–ŖļøTing: a Jamaican sparkling grapefruit soda! REALLY yum and refreshing. Def make sure to try this! Additional Notes šŸ“ ā–ŖļøIt’s a fast casual vibe! You order at the counter, and they’ll bring food out to you. ā–ŖļøThere’s some seating inside, but they also have a gorgeous patio. ā–ŖļøThere’s a small parking lot up front ā–ŖļøThey also have a second location in Baltimore REALLY worth the trip IMO. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu. Their oxtails are calling my name for sure! Have you guys been yet?
