Yum! So I saw The Centre St cafe on Facebook all the time, and I just so happened to be in the neighborhood today, so decided to try it out! Must be Kismet, because the parking lot was packed (and the street nearby) but I got the only spot available. I had to wait a bit because it was FULL. Good sign! Got a spot within a 5 minute wait. Ordered quickly because I checked out the menu online. Ordered The Vinny, with the very friendly waitress. Got my food within 15 minutes (maybe less). No problem subtracting items from the Vinny. While I waited I noticed several things. The artwork on the walls, the customers, and the staff. Artwork is fun! Customers were smiling, STAFF WAS SMILING! The food was great (though I did not care for the chips and salsa (instead of the bean dip I requested the salsa) but I did recognize that it is QUALITY salsa. The Vinny is so packed with meat that I could barely fit my mouth around it! it comes hot (which I normally prefer) but I just now ate the other HALF of the sandwich COLD, and it was SO YUMMY! So hot or cold, it was good stuff. Seriously, even though it's a bit more expensive, this gives you enough for two meals (IMO). Basic takeaway, the AMBIANCE made this a great experience for me, and I WILL come again (and suggest it to others), and the food I got it good. I do love that they offer unusual items on the menu, as well (even if I don't try it, it sounds like...
Read moreDelicious food. Inventive menu. Great service. This is a favorite of locals and some of the seasonals who actually bother to experience the local culture. Fudgies generally don't find their way here which is good because the place is packed during the lunch rush. The secret to enjoying a relaxing lunch is to get here right when they open or after the main lunch crowd which seems to run from about 11:45 to 1:30. The service is always great no matter how busy. Sandwiches, salads and soups are consistently delicious. Great spot for a lunch meeting or a bite with friends. Only lunch — no breakfast or dinner — and they do it very well. They also do takeout and you'll see plenty of it flying out the door. Some may discount the decor which is of the small diner genre but go for the food and enjoy...
Read moreOh man, what an excellent place to grab some lunch. The food is insanely good. They have creative dishes that combine unlikely ingredients into really magnificent, flavorful meals. Food prices are at about the 10 dollar range, which for what you get is more than reasonable. It is gourmet food at cafe prices. The staff is excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable about their offerings. They also have gluten-free options available, as well as a vegetarian menu (I say as i am eating lamb). The decor is supplied by local artists. This might be my favorite cafe on the planet. My only complaint is that they put the bean dip on the wax serving paper, because it is embarrassing for me to...
