When my wife and I stopped here for dinner one night, I didn’t realize how much food I’d be getting. Wow! It was a lot.
We parked along a side street, but I don’t know if there’s much parking elsewhere nearby. If it’s busy, spots may be limited.
The interior feels pretty cramped. You order at the counter and get your drinks. Then you find a seat, either inside or outside, and they’ll bring a bag of food to you. Or you can get it to go at the window outside.
I ordered the Slabby Patty while my wife opted for the TC Cherry Burger. You can add a combo with fries and a drink (it was an extra $5.15 at the time of this writing). You could also upgrade to other sides for an additional cost. I was told the bacon cheddar fries would be an extra fifty cents, but it was closer to $1.50. (Also, I believe this was one of the places I paid cash to save some money on the extra surcharge if using a credit card.)
The soft drinks are from Northwoods Soda. I often like local root beers, but they only had diet. Instead, I tried the black cherry cream soda, not something I would typically gravitate towards. But I’ll fully admit that it had a wonderful cherry flavor, almost like grenadine. So delicious.
We sat outside, and I’d guess we waited less than 10 minutes for the food to arrive. And I was surprised when I opened the container of cheese fries. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much cheese loaded onto a pile of fries, plus they had a ton of bacon.
We enjoyed each of our burgers, but my stuffed patty had fallen apart leaving a glob of cheese on the center. It was good, but I think I’d just rather have the cheese on top.
When we left, I refilled my drink with the cola flavor, again something I enjoyed, which is saying a lot since I’m a fan of Coke.
I’d definitely try this place again, and the cheese fries are worth the upgrade. However, for two of us, sharing one combo might be plenty with an order of...
Read moreBest Burger in town! Okay, it's the only burger that I have had in the area but it was Fantastic! My daughter took me here after picking me up from the airport in Traverse City. She said it didn't look like much but the food was good. She was right on. The place is a converted house but it is nicely decorated but not a whole lot of sitting on the inside. However, if the weather is good they have provided ample amounts of outdoor seating. You order at the counter and bring the food out to you. The menu offers a variety of unique sandwiches. I order a cheeseburger stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeno peppers. It was oh so yummy! I also ordered gravy cheese fries, a favorite of mine that isn't usually on the menu back home. The fries appeared to be home made. And we're also very yummy. They offered other items on the menu besides burgers, but I don't remember what they were. I was tempted to get a milkshake but I went with the locally brewed root beer instead. I found the prices to be very reasonable as well. A restaurant like Red Robbin would easily charge twice as much for this awesome piece of beefy goodness. I look forward to stopping here again. ( I wanted to take a picture of the burger showing the stuffing in the burger but I didn't think you all would enjoy the teeth marks in the bun and I didn't have a knife handy and I didn't want to interrupt my feast to go get one) Also, the staff was really friendly and the place was really...
Read moreI was excited to check this place out after cruising by one day and thinking it looked impressive from a glancing view. Decided to try my luck on a busy Friday night. Stood in line for 10 minutes while a single customer made their order, which is great that the kid behind the counter can be patient and polite towards them with a line out the door, but I come up and make an incredibly simple order, the kid attempts to correct me either because he misheard me or wasn't expecting me to make it that easy for him. I don't appreciate my interaction taking less than a minute and being infantilized, not to mention interrupted as I'm clarifying my order and also asking questions to potentially purchase more food. If I want to pay for a deluxe and hold the mayo, that is my choice and you offer a deluxe upgrade that is discounted from purchasing 2 additional toppings separately. Why you would attempt to argue with someone in line over a few pennies is beyond me, that you would try to squeeze more from me when the price is already pretty high, safe to say it doesn't matter whether the food is good or not. I was told you're competition for Oakwood, hate to say it this way but I will never bring my business here again and glady support their operation with locally sourced products. Maybe the line wouldn't be so long if you weren't so busy...
