We were returning from Acadia National Park and wanted to take some lobster home. It was been told that this is one of the best restaurant for pack and go lobster. We were novice in lobster eating so we were not sure. We went there and saw lots of lobster were steaming in some really huge chamber. lots of steam were coming out of chimney and the smell of lobster was everywhere. Shop was small and I asked for help. He told me that to take lobster home in CT I can take it live. they will pack it in a box with ice-pack. What I need to do to is to check if the ice melted. if melted we need to give fresh ice and drain the water otherwise lobster get drowned. Lobster can stay more than 24 hour in that way. He explained about the soft shell and hard shell lobster. but the way they were cooking it I was not sure we can cook it in home. the place was smelling so bad ( I mean good in terms of lobster eating ) that we do not want to cook in home. So they steamed it with sea water . pack the steamed lobsters in a bag and gave the box and told us to put it in the box after three hour. And repeatedly told us to not freeze the cooked lobster. He was bit irritated when I repeatedly telling about the freezing of leftovers. He was always mentioning about the fresh eating of lobster. After returning home we ate half of the lobsters and froze the leftovers. later when we ate that we understand that why the old man was repeatedly told to not do that. it became like rubber. Always obey the experts. Lobsters need to be eaten fresh . I will not do the mistake again. So that was the story of this restaurant.
price wise in comparison to quality it is cheaper than any pound in Acadia.
you can eat there. They will steam it for you.
restaurant is small and most of the time in a day...
Read moreI stopped into Trenton Bridge lobster for the first time on Saturday. I have been going by it on the way to Acadia for photography for many years and never had a chance to stop in. We had a family gathering on Saturday and would be going by it on the way home. I called to order 11 cooked lobsters and was greeted by the most pleasant voice. She asked how long we would be travelling home so that that could wrap them properly to still be warm when were ready to eat. I had never been asked that before and thought it was a very considerate touch. We arrived right at 3 to pick them up and were greeted with big smiles and 11 lobsters ready to go. I saw that they had blueberry pie on the menu by the slice or full pie. I picked up a full pie to score some bonus points with my cousins. The lobsters were perfect and the blueberry pie was just as good. Everyone was raving about what a fantastic meal we had courtesy of the folks at Trenton Bridge Lobster. I called back on Monday to thank them again for the wonderful customer service and the outstanding food. We had had one of the worst service experiences ever for breakfast that morning at another place so this wonderful experience meritted a call back. When I told the owner I would be writing a review she told me they never ask customers to write them. That spoke to me about their integrity. i was happy to share this experience and I recommend them very highly! They are absolutely worth a visit if you are in the Bar...
Read moreI actually hate to write this review because we have had good meals (though expensive) in the restaurant before. My gripe with them is all about the prices. Last week, late October I went to buy lobster from them. The restaurant was closed so I went to the back. At first I believed there was no one there but then a delivery guy walked out and said he though the lady was upstairs. Finally a lady struggles down the overly steep stairs and I ask if they have lobster, she says I think so, what do you need? I need two lobsters I say and ask the price. She replies $12.95 a pound! Keep in mind this is in late October, few staff, a local person just wanting to buy a couple of lobsters out the back door and they are charging $12.95 a pound? This is down east Maine for gods sake, the worlds supplier of lobster and they are gouging me, why? I have a place in Maryland where there is one lobster fisherman for 20 miles. He travels offshore 60 miles to set and pull his traps and sells hard lobster to me for $8.00 a pound $6.00 for culls. I just don't understand why they charge so much. I'm guessing they make so much over the summer that they don't care whether I buy or not and since they can sell and ship them to people with so much money price is no object. Just seems like a good will gesture to sell them locally at a fair price rather than...
