As one steps into the bustling ambiance of Baumhowerâs, expectations rise, buoyed by the aroma of quintessential comfort food. The initiation of this gastronomic journey begins unassumingly with a trio of chips, salsa, and queso - a staple in the pantheon of casual dining.
The chips, a cornerstone of this appetizer, arrive with a paradoxical nature. On one hand, they disappointingly lack the inviting warmth one anticipates, suggesting a missed opportunity for that fresh-from-the-kitchen allure. However, they redeem themselves slightly with their texture: a tad greasy, yet commendably balanced in their salt-to-chip ratio, offering a satisfying crunch that sets a promising stage.
The queso, however, falters in its mission. It lacks a certain je ne sais quoi, a complexity or depth that could elevate it from mere melted cheese to a symphony of flavors. A suggestion for improvement lies in the infusion of bold seasonings - perhaps a hint of smoked paprika or a dash of cumin - or the incorporation of a sharper cheese to add a needed edge.
Finally, the salsa - a crucial element, yet here, it strays too far into the realm of the ordinary. Dominated by a tomatoey essence, it lacks the nuanced layers of flavor that make a salsa memorable. The inclusion of roasted peppers, a squeeze of lime for a zesty kick, or a smattering of fresh cilantro could rescue it from its current state of mundanity.
In summary, Baumhowerâs offers a mixed bag: while the chips provide a satisfactory, if not exceptional, experience, both the queso and salsa fall short of their potential. With a few thoughtful tweaks, there lies an opportunity for these dishes to truly shine and complement the lively atmosphere of this establishment.
Moving past the initial offerings, the journey at Baumhowerâs meanders into the realm of the side salad and the much-anticipated hot wings. These dishes, while staples in many a culinary establishment, present an opportunity to transcend the ordinary. Sadly, this opportunity seems missed, leaving one yearning for a touch more creativity and flair.
The side salad arrives with an almost Zen-like simplicity, embodying the essence of âbasicâ. Itâs a dish that does not err, yet does not dare to impress either. The greens are fresh, yes, but the dressing - the ranch - is sparingly applied, leaving the foliage underdressed and the palate underwhelmed. A more generous hand with the dressing could have elevated this simple salad from merely a plate-filler to a dish with its own merit.
Then come the hot wings, a dish often celebrated for its robust flavors and heat. At Baumhowerâs, these wings are cooked adequately, arriving at the table with a pleasing warmth. Yet, the buffalo sauce that clings to them whispers of unfulfilled potential. It lacks uniqueness, hinting at a premade, jarred origin rather than a house-made concoction bursting with distinct flavors. The wings, though competently prepared, languish in the realm of the ordinary, further compounded by the absence of traditional accompaniments like crisp celery sticks, which could have provided a much-needed textural contrast and a refreshing palate cleanser.
In essence, both the side salad and the hot wings at Baumhowerâs embody a culinary conservatism, playing it safe but missing an opportunity to leave a memorable impression on the taste buds. A bit more daring in the kitchen, a willingness to experiment with flavors and presentation, could transform these dishes from forgettable to remarkable.
As one ventures deeper into the Baumhowerâs experience, it becomes increasingly evident that the establishmentâs approach to customer service and beverage crafting is marred by a disheartening rigidity and an apparent prioritization of cost over customer satisfaction.
A notable grievance is the strict âno substitutionsâ policy. In a dining world where personalization is often celebrated, Baumhowerâs misses the mark, prioritizing profit over...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at the Troy Baumhower's location. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. Our server was friendly and attentive. The issue was the food. I ordered the pot roast bowl and it came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The pot roast was hot but there was literally only two teaspoons of it in my bowl. The mashed potatoes were ice cold and the green beans were greasy and cold. I asked our waitress to please take it back and she was very apologetic and returned the food to the kitchen to be corrected. She brought the plate back out and the pot roast was so hot it was smoking but the potatoes and green beans were still ice cold. I asked the waitress to please take it back and I told her I did not want to order anything else. By this time my son, whose food was fine for him, was almost finished eating and I did not want him to have to wait for them to cook a new order for me. The manager then came over and apologized for the food and asked if she could get me something else. I told her thank you but no. When we got ready to leave the waitress brought our check and they had removed my order from the ticket but they charged me for both my tea and a Dr. Pepper. I initially ordered sweet tea but after three glasses of them bringing us unsweet, we opted for Dr. Pepper. I asked to be charged for just one of the beverages. Nope, they would not do that. I paid $34.57 for six wings, an order of gooey fries, two Dr. Pepper's, a tea and tip. The manager kept telling us that the kitchen must have just reheated the roast and maybe they didn't know the potatoes and beans were cold...she was making excuses. I did not expect an entire free meal. But I did expect not to have to pay for something they didn't make right. I will not return to this...
Read moreUPDATE: I would like to be fair and update this review. Previously i had posted about receiving half cooked chicken wings with oil (Not wing sauce) sitting at the bottom of the container. Please check your wings before biting. I would like to say that CICI, a manager, was AWESOME! She followed up with my complaint; viewed the pictures that I emailed via the corporate email; acknowledged and listened to my concerns. I was issued a replacement wings and they were cooked properly .SHOUT OUT TO CICI; She was able to fix the issues even when the marketing team did not reach out to me. I really appreciate her great customer service! I did add more stars for customer service and food.
Side note: i did contact the market number that's at the bottom of this review . The Baumhower's marketing team has not contacted me since I called x 1 week ago. I have not received a follow up call since I left a voicemail or any acknowledgement that I reached out to them via a voicemail
So I received my Door Dash order today from Baumhower's . I ordered the shrimp etoufee ; small mild wing; and broccoli. Cons: Chicken was half cooked; the oil was sitting at the bottom of the container; there was No mild flavor noted and ; the chicken skin was rubbery . I will state that I've never had this problem before; so , I'm unsure if the fryers was overloaded. I reached out to Baumhower's to notify them of the issue. I would like to note that the manager is very friendly; Another positive is that the bag was sealed during delivery. I will add another star as the Etouffee is...
