Order some Cedar Grille! You won’t regret it. Story time:
I used to work right around the corner from here 4 years ago. I started eating their almond rice salads and I couldn’t stop. The dressing and the fresh-made bread alone were enough to make it my favorite lunch spot. I ended up leaving that job unceremoniously, but I didn’t forget the great food and the kind, personable guy who ran the place. Approximately 4 years later I find myself in need of catering for my wedding reception and it just so happens that my wife and I love Lebanese/mediterranian food. So I decided to come back up to Troy from Detroit (a 30 min drive on a good day) to inquire about catering some of the best mediterranean I’ve ever had. This time the guy who runs the place remembers me and greets me with a smile. His name is Romeo and he is happy to oblige my request go feed 120 people in 3 days time. He literally helped me shape the order, smiled, and thanked me for the opportunity.
The day comes and I arrive about 10 mins earlier than the time we agreed upon, fully expecting to patiently wait for the completed order. Well, Romeo proceeds to greet me with that same smile and immediately carry out tray after tray after tray of some of the best smelling food anyone has ever smelled. He got me turned around in record time and I successfully fed all 120+ people (more came than we expected 😊), but not before Romeo introduced me to his brother, shook my hand, and told me ‘thank you!’
Every single person told us how GOOD the food was. Falafel, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, fresh bread, fresh rice, fresh fattouch, dressing, garlic sauce, tahini, and pita chips for soooo many people. I only have this picture of the trays before everyone got to it, I never had a chance to take a picture of the open trays.
Romeo knows service, he knows his food, and he knows how to help people when they need it. If you see this...
Read moreAs of today, I am NO LONGER a satisfied customer of Cedar Grille. Yesterday, I went to that wretched place with a few coworkers. We are regular customers and have been for the last three years. We are there at least once a week. Unfortunately, on my last visit I accidentally left my debit card there.
Today when I got into work, I had a voicemail from Fraud Prevention at my credit union questioning some charges made with my card yesterday: one to a furniture store and one from Kohl’s. Both were online. I checked wallet and realized my debit card was not there. I remembered the last place I used it and immediately called Cedar Grille and the manager told me that he had my card and would hold it until I came to get it. I went over there at lunch. Well, to my surprise, the manager was less than helpful. He was rude, inconsiderate and dismissive. He basically told me that there was no way anyone could have used my card because it was locked in the register and that I must be mistaken. I tried over and over to tell him that they might not have used the actual card, but instead the numbers because I got a call from credit union. He said no, you are mistaken. We went back and forth for a minute and I asked him if he was concerned that one of his employees was a thief and he said he has cameras in his restaurant and no one had access so it wasn’t any of his employees. To say that I was disappointed was an understatement. He showed no interest or concern for what had happened to me and didn't offer to review his security tapes. I no longer feel my personal information is secure. I will not longer patronize this restaurant. I am encouraging the many coworkers I know that go to this restaurant not to patronize it...
Read moreI'm never patronizing this place again. I have been a customer for at least 2 years but recently things are turning for the worse in terms of EMPLOYEES.
The older gentlemen who works in the afternoon is a penny pinching, grouchy old fart. He has poor customer service and cares about nothing but the bottom line. The rest of the staff are OUTSTANDING!
During the Romaine Lettuce recall, I purchased a Fattoush Salad. The old fart never informed me that they swapped out the Romaine lettuce for the soggy, wilting, Iceberg lettuce and still attempted to charge me the same rate as if it was of the same quality. I immediately requested a refund and he copped a nasty attitude as if I offended him.. smh
I ordered a Fattoush Salad on a separate occasion. Once I picked it up I noticed that the bag of bread did not have a side of garlic sauce which is usually complimentary when the old fart is not servicing take out orders. I informed him that it was missing. He said that it does not come with the salad. I replied "Dude you are charging $8.47 for Romaine Lettuce and Tomatoes and now you are going to charge me an additional 80 cents for a side of garlic sauce that is usually complimentary. The Old Fart replied " Everything Costs".
This is exactly how you do not treat consistent paying customers. I will be sure to tell the remainder of my 60+ co-workers across the driveway about my experience and that they demand that the Old Fart treat them with better...
