Pudge's Place Deli & Café — Restaurant in Troy

I was so looking forward to our breakfast this Saturday (2-4-23) at Pudges. I had heard great reviews from my son in law who went there last week. Unfortunately, the only thing I found satisfactory was the service and the coffee, which was very good. I had the Short Stack Pancakes. They were pretty awful. Tasted like they were made from a box. They were not fluffy nor were they of a restaurant quality. They reminded me of what I made at home with a pancake mix that you just add water. I ate half and left the rest. I also ordered “hash browns”. Their hash browns are more like boiled potatoes. They were mushy and room temperature, and not crispy. I couldn’t even eat them. My wife had Eggs Benedict. They looked, at best, ok. Nothing like the “absolutely delicious” reviews I had seen prior to going there. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but this food was pretty bad. This restaurant is truly a gem, from the server to food!! I asked the waitress, Shelly for a recommendation, as I could not decide between 2 choices, she happily recommended the corn beef sandwich with coleslaw. What an excellent recommendation!!! The corn beef was lean and the home made chips that came with the meal were excellent. Shelly was very attentive, asking if I wanted extra dressing, bringing it promptly, along with extra napkins.
