Perc’s food & beverage is some of the best in Tucker. I have been a frequent customer since their opening date, often stopping by multiple times a week. My low review is not a reflection of the coffee or the space; but of the bad attitude and service of an employee.
I take my grandparents (who are in their 80’s) out for coffee on the weekends. We have been going to the “original” local coffee shop in Tucker for years and have always been met with lovely attitudes. This morning they wanted to visit Perc as first-timers, after hearing how much I have enjoyed it.
The whole incident is rather foolish to type out, because it should have been a non-issue in the first place. My grandfather ordered a drip coffee and requested a splash of milk. When he noticed there was only oat milk and half & half on the self-serve counter, he politely asked an employee if they had dairy milk (which they do). She immediately had a horrible attitude as if she was inconvenienced to be asked a simple question. After some back and forth, she stated that dairy milk was not available to him. She then pulled out a gallon of milk to pour into a latte she was making. When I asked if he could have a small amount of it for his coffee, I was told that we would need to speak to her manager.
Thankfully, the manager, Pat, stepped in with a very kind attitude and was happy to pour a splash of milk into the cup without hesitation. His positive attitude helped to save the situation and we can only hope it was an example for said employee to learn from.
While my family won’t be re-visiting the shop, I will continue to, in hopes that management can fix the attitude problem. It would be a shame if not, considering this is otherwise a lovely place...
Read morePERC offers a selection of adventurous, delicious flavors of coffee. I have personally had my eyes opened by their signature latte, which features habanero as a main flavor. The best thing about PERC Coffee is the coffee itself, which I give a 5/5, and so far the people working there I've met are friendly and well trained. Unfortunately, there are several things lacking that would make this the top choice of coffee shop for me, and those are the uncomfortable seating arrangements and the high prices.
This coffee shop is new, so I am presenting the negatives simply in the hope that they will improve upon them and make this place an even more enjoyable experience.
The shop is uniquely decorated in terms of color scheme and wall decor, but the seating arrangement is essentially cafeteria-style hard tables and chairs, and the lack of any carpeting or soft furniture makes the concrete room sound like an echo chamber when there's enough customers. In my opinion this isn't an atmosphere conducive to doing work or even just sitting and drinking coffee, since it can feel like you are sitting "out in the open". The prices have also been obtrusively high in my experience. As someone who has to order with dietary restrictions, I'm used to paying slightly more for my drinks, but I have not experienced paying almost $9 after tax and tip for a small latte with oat milk at many places but PERC. The quality of the drinks alone would make it worth it, if there was somewhere more comfortable to sit and enjoy the drink.
All in all, I highly recommend trying out PERC for the fun flavors and unique atmosphere. There are only a couple small issues for me, and if they can work those out I'd...
Read moreUpdate: On a recent trip to PERC, I wanted to order a simple flavored latte, possibly using the lavender-vanilla syrup used in the Good Times Latte, or just a cappuccino with cinnamon, but came to find out that they do not have any flavored syrups available, nor can you get the ones that are in the specialty drinks, plus they do not have cinnamon. These were quite surprising as I’ve been to MANY coffee shops, and they always have at least a couple syrup options and cinnamon. Not everybody that comes in is going to want a specialty drinks since they are so unique or even a non-flavored classic drink, such as a latte or americano. The only option they offered was simple syrup that you can add yourself at the bar. This was quite disappointing and I hope they change these in the future as they may attract additional customers and provide more variety/options.
PERC, Tucker’s newest coffee shop, is a great addition to the area! The craft coffees are unique and delicious, plus they have some good food options as well. The decor is bright and retro, so it would make for a fun spot to study or chat with friends. I’ve enjoyed all of the coffee drinks I’ve tried, with Our Mutual Friend being my favorite. Note that they have regular milk or oat milk to choose from. The only negative that I have, is I ordered a Crunchwrap one morning and added pork sausage, which was an up charge. I got it to-go and we had already left when I noticed mine did not have any pork sausage, which was definitely a letdown. Other than that, great...
