I sat on this all day, trying to decide if I was going to leave this review, but here it is. I went to Bobo’s for breakfast with my husband yesterday. We don’t dine out often, but when we do, we like to eat local. The staff was fantastic. They were polite, welcoming, personable, even cheerful despite all of them being visibly sweltering.
We both ordered the banana pancake combo. Our food came out quick. The eggs were prepared perfectly. The pancakes were gigantic, with tons of bananas, cinnamon, and gooey melted brown sugar. The edges were perfectly crispy, but not burnt, and the middles were light and fluffy.
I was about 1/4 of the way into my pancake when I felt a tickle on my leg and reached down to scratch it. It was a cockroach. As I brushed it away, I saw that there were three more on the floor at my feet, two crawling along the edge of the table, and three more on the wall beside the table. I’m not naive. I know a lot of commercial kitchens have cockroaches. But that was nine cockroaches all at once and all near my person or my food.
I couldn’t continue eating. The dining room was FULL, every table occupied. So I discretely indicated the roaches to the young lady at the register. She saw me actively brushing them off my table and the wall with one of the menus at the table. She said, “Oh.” Then she handed us our bill and walked away. She didn’t say a word to anyone else about it.
My husband had finished his food already. He’s former military and eats like his food might jump up and run away if he doesn’t scarf it down as fast as possible, so we got up to go pay.
Our server came to the cash register to ask how everything was. I told her it was fantastic until I had to fight off the cockroaches to try to eat it. Again, the only response was, “Oh.” And she walked away while my husband paid for his breakfast and mine that was barely touched.
Not a single employee said I’m sorry for your experience . They didn’t offer to remove the cost of my meal from the ticket even though it was almost untouched. They were entirely unsympathetic about the experience.
I won’t be going...

We were in Tucson for our son's graduation and he wanted to show us his favorite dining locations. This is one of his top picks. My husband and I agree. There is a wide selection of inexpensive but delicious food options. The staff members are quick and efficient, and very friendly and helpful. They are busy but they don't make the customer feel rushed.
There is normally a wait to get in, but it's well worth it. We were second in line on the Monday when we visited, around noon, and we waited about 15 minutes.
We each ordered something different. I had Bobo's Veggie Omelette with fried potatoes, and wheat toast. My husband and son each had two eggs with sausage links. My husband added fried potatoes and toast. My son added biscuits and gravy. It was A LOT OF FOOD!!!
But, we could not leave Bobo's without one of their HUGE pancakes, so we purchased one to share. We got banana with pecans! YUM!!! The pancake is light and fluffy with the bananas adding a nice fruity flavor, well accented by the pecans. It is fried in what I'm assuming is butter and sugar because it comes with a nice crisp "coating" on one side. A perfect ending to a delicious breakfast.
My husband and son's coffee mugs never ran dry as one young man returned several times throughout the meal to refill with more hot coffee.
I highly recommend a stop at Bobo's, especially on a not-so-busy...
Read moreI've had people tell me for a long time, that I had to try Bobo's. I've driven by it hundreds of times, and never had the time to stop. So finally I made time to try out this popular little Tucson restaurant... A friend and myself stopped by on a Saturday morning at 8am. Just like I was forewarned, there was a small line and a wait for a table. There were 3 couples a head of us, but we were give a table in about 15mins. The staff was fast, friendly, cheerful, attentive and patient. Unlike alot of full service restaurants, the staff here is always there to make sure you're cup is full and your need taken care of. My biggest pet peeve is going to a nice restaurant, getting my meal and never seeing my server again until they bring the bill and my cup has been empty the whole time. Bravo, to Bobo's staff for being so attentive. The food was was hot, cooked to perfection, and flavorful, with huge portions. I absolutely love Southern cooking and was raised on Biscuits & Gravy. I ordered mine with the additional 2 eggs & 2 baucon strips, with an additional 2 sausage links. My friend ordered the same with a side of Home Fries. You certainly won't leave here still feeling hungry. The only shocker here was the check at end, with breakfast for two...
