I am from Seattle, Washington. I have been to 30+ coffee shops there, and about 6 in Tucson. Between every coffee shop Iāve been to and the amount of money I have spent at each one, I have never been so dissatisfied with both the coffee and the service like I have at Raging Sage.
Raging Sage does not appreciate their customers, and by reading the multitude of other negative reviews, they profile based off of looks and go out of their way to make customers uncomfortable to the fullest extent. There have been a history of poor reviews due to the barista with black hair and lots of tattoos. She is the worst.
My friend and I went here to do homework around 3pm and expected to stay until close at 10:30. Keep in mind, the longer we stay, the more drinks we buy. I started with a vanilla breve, that tasted like watered-down liquid plastic, and sat down.
Within the initial 10 minutes of being there, the black-haired barista approached my friend and rudely stated āIf you are going to be taking up space, weād appreciate you buying somethingā, which was unnecessary, but understandable. Before my friend even had time to finish her email and get in line, the other barista approached my friend and said the same. Again, rude, but if they are truly desperate for money then I guess I respect the persistence. I thought the attitude that was given would be the end of it, but then my friend and I literally witnessed the two baristas start to talk bad about us, publicly behind the counter.
Then the Wifi shut off. The other customers in the store asked the black-haired barista what happened, and she claimed that they restarted their router. We all soon found out that she was being dishonest, because after waiting 20 minutes for it to turn back on, I went up to the counter and asked again. Her response was extremely inappropriate. She said āoh, yes, the Wifi will come back on if your friend buys a drink. I will even give her the $2 is costs for a small coffeeā alluding to the thought that my friend couldnāt afford it herself (which she clearly can). I wish I was being dramatic by saying she personally attacked my friend, but turning off everyoneās ability to gain access to wifi just to show her dominance is extremely immature.
It was belittling and straight-up disrespectful, and I have never ever experienced something so unprofessional. Even other customers in the shop recognized her bitter attitude and debated leaving.
I asked the barista with the black hair and tattoos if she was the manager, which she responded as being the owner for the past two years. You would assume after two years of experience, as well as the all of the other terrible Yelp reviews written about her, she would change the way she interacts with customers. What a shame.
Please, please, do not waste your time dealing with the rudeness of these people for...
Read moreI am a bit of a coffee shop junkie and find myself frequenting many of the local coffee shops in town. This is certainly one of my favorites. They have absolutely the best baked goods in town that are baked right in the back of the store, and not just the standard loafs and muffins but a great variety like chocolate pecan scones and the best cheesecake that I have ever had. The décor is absolutely lovely. The store feels like a little cottage with awesome wood flooring and decent wood tables and chairs. It is the perfect place to have a cup of coffee, a scone, and read a good book. There aren't many outlets in the store. Only about one time with an outlet and a few rather uncomfortable stools that have outlets underneath but really nothing else so make sure you come with a full charge. Free wifi is available after 11 am with a password. They have a patio area outside with a few orange trees that provide ample shade. The coffee is really great here. They used to roast on site until a fire forced them to roast off site. They have some of the best regular brewed coffee in Tucson. I have had several of there specialty drinks as well. The mochas are good but could stand to be sweeter. There ruby rush tea in the summer is super delicious and extremely refreshing. In the winter they have a caramel spiced cider that is absolutely to die for. I must have spent $200 on spiced cider alone this past winter, with no regrets. They accept most major credit cards with is convenient. They have punch cards where after your 10th drink, you get a free beverage. The prices are really good here. There coffee prices are some of the best in town. Pastry prices are a little high with a scone going for about 3.50 but they are big enough to split and are very high quality. The operating hours are less than ideal for a night owl like myself. They open at 7 most days and are open until 9:30 most days but open until 10:30 on Friday and Saturday but close at 7 on Sundays. Remember that wifi doesn't come on until 11am. It can also be incredibly difficult to find a chair as this is a very busy coffee shop. The employees are generally pleasant but not entirely personable. I used to come here before my night shifts at UMC for several months in a row but I don't think anyone bothered to learn my name. The morning shift certainly seems much friendlier and engaging. All in all one of the best coffee shops in town that I do not mind giving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRaging Sage is horrible. I have been a customerfor many years. . There counter people are rude and unhelpful. They are especially rude and dismissive of people with disabilities. This review is based on three separate visits. The ONLY reason I went today was because I was meeting someone who wanted to go there.
Today I walked in with service dog who was wearing her bright red vest which I identifies her as a service dog. I was told that I would have to leave because they don't allow dogs inside. Only after I informed the counter person she was a service dog did she say well that's okay. I informed her that is not the way to handle the situation.
During a prior visit I had trouble juggling multiple cups, napkins, etc. I asked the batista if she could take one of the glasses for me. She said no, that it wasn't her job. I asked her again and said with my service dog and all the other stuff I was having trouble and really needed her help. She just walked way. I ended up leaving the cup.
My friend Tanya Hammond had a situation. We were meeting there with her disabled daughter and asked for help. Same person was incredibly dismissive. My friend refuses to set foot in there.
I have alway tipped 20%. I am not some entitled Karen. People here don't greet you, smile, or provide anything other than take your money and sling what you ordered at you. I would rather go to someplace like Ren where someone is happy and appreciates my business. If I need something basic is...
