I visited Mojo Cuban Kitchen last night for the first time and I can’t believe I didn’t try it sooner! It is now my favorite restaurant in Tucson. Parking was easy to find (we parked in the dirt lot behind the restaurant) and even though we arrived before our reservation, they were able to sit us right away. The restaurant decor was very modern and charming. First impression was great! We were greeted by our server right away. I explained to her that I have celiac and also can’t eat dairy. She explained that many of their items are already gluten-free and dairy-free and pointed out what I could have and not have. The menu also was marked on what was gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. I was very thankful for that since it made it easy to pick out my options.
My husband and I ordered a wide variety of food because there was so much we wanted to try. We started with the Hotel Nacional (so good that I had a 2nd!) and El Presidente. After he finished that, he tried the mojito. Both were very good! We then ordered the Mojito Shrimp Ceviche and the Tostones. The ceviche was very fresh with plump shrimp. We loved the mojo dipping sauce that came with Tostones and kept it to put on our entree. Both appetizers were very delicious!
For our entree, we split the Taste of Havana. Highly recommend getting that if it’s your first time and want to try a little of everything. It’s also large so easy to split with another or as your main meal. It comes with rice, beans, and maduros. I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite between the ropa vieja, mojo chicken, and lechon asado. All three were very savory and cooked to perfection.
Even though we were stuffed, we couldn’t stop there because we were still on a quest for more deliciousness. I ordered the Mango Batido (Milk Shake) with vegan milk so I could enjoy it dairy free. They also had regular milk and other milk shake options. My husband had a cafecito and the flan which he raved about both. He is somewhat of a coffee snob and said the espresso was delicious! The flan was also decent slice so easy to share. He is lucky I can’t eat dairy because he didn’t have to share!
During our whole meal, we both raved how great everything was and already made plans to come back next weekend to try the items that we couldn’t stuff in during this meal. It makes me so happy to see a restaurant that accommodates allergies and has so many options. Their prices are also great in my opinion. Mojo Cuban Kitchen left us very satisfied. We haven’t felt like that about a restaurant in a long time. They’re doing everything right and I hope they keep it up. Please support this local delicious...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mojo Cuban Kitchen, and it was an experience worth celebrating. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with the enticing aromas of authentic Cuban cuisine and the vibrant ambiance that transported us to the streets of Havana.
We indulged in a delightful array of dishes that left our taste buds dancing with joy. The Mixto Plato was a delightful medley of flavors, showcasing the richness of Cuban cuisine with a perfect balance of savory meats and aromatic spices. Each bite was a journey through the heart of Cuba, filled with the essence of tradition and culinary craftsmanship.
My wife's choice, the Shrimp Ceviche, was a refreshing and tangy delight. The freshness of the shrimp combined with zesty citrus flavors created a harmonious symphony of taste that invigorated the palate and left us craving for more.
As for myself, the Cubano sandwich was a true masterpiece. The tender roasted pork, tangy pickles, and melted cheese embraced between crispy bread transported me to the streets of Havana with every bite. It was a culinary revelation that left me longing for another visit to Mojo Cuban Kitchen.
To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a selection of beverages that perfectly complemented the flavors of our dishes. The Cafecito was a bold and aromatic elixir, delivering a perfect kick of caffeine with every sip. The Guava Mojito was a refreshing tropical escape, blending the sweetness of guava with the invigorating zest of mint. And the Cuba Libre, with its classic combination of rum and cola, added a touch of nostalgia to our dining experience.
Beyond the exquisite flavors, the service at Mojo Cuban Kitchen was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the rich culinary heritage of Cuba with every guest.

Read moreUpdate: May and June 2025: Quick update to foot-stomp the consist 5-star dish, the ‘Taste of Havana’ (TOH) plate! Absolutely love this dish for two and the service is fantastic. Consistently feel welcomed, and the service at the bar from Nora and others is always 5-star. Really enjoy sitting outside the bar looking in, conversation with the staff and of course the TOH!. Another cool thing about this place is I believe the staff really enjoys working here – few places can say that, and I hear it each time I visit. Happy employees certainly contribute to a positive customer experience. With regards to food – TOH, breast meat – Mojo sauce and an ice-cold IPA – can’t go wrong. Thank you again Mojo Kitchen team for creating a wonderful experience in central Tucson.
Update: Bellied up yesterday for the 'Taste of Havana" plate, it was as I suspected - delicious. Nora at the bar took great care of us, the pints were cold and the Lechon Asado, rice, beans, plantains, Mole sauce were all ON POINT! Thank you, Mojo, and thank you Nora.
What a fantastic addition to Tucson – Long overdue for us on trying this place. Bellied up at the bar on a wonderful afternoon that only got better with their drinks / food. Started with two Dragoon Amber ales, clean glasses – ice cold beer. Advanced to the Mojito with fresh mint and my personal favorite ‘Hotel Nacional’. Matt staffing the bar with exceptional service, mad drink skills, knowledgeable on all the drinks and food, great with the recommendations and conversation. The Taste of Havana plate for $22 was amazing. Tasted so clean, perfect for two to share (Ask for some Mole sauce on the side, delicious on the rice) . This dish was a solid 5 stars and I really appreciate the choice between white and dark chicken meat, very nice touch! Will definitely return, and definitely recommend. What a wonderful experience and tip of the hat to the kitchen staff – seriously, could NOT have been better! Also, I added a sneak photo of the bar refrigerator – labeling is so very important, and often rarely done with consistency and detail – Matt really reenforced the high-quality standards which I have no doubt are also evident out of sight in the kitchen! Thank you, Mojo staff, for a great experience &...
