Hello my name is Angel and I was Introduced to del cielo by an ex-girlfriend who found this restraint at a farmers market and she referred to it as her “burrito boys” and that’s because the burritos they make are outta this world which is why we only get burritos from this restaurant. But this review is for the tamales. So I always heard that they had the best tamales in Tucson. So it was a early morning at work when I asked my supervisor what was for lunch and she said she brought tamales for lunch which I then replied “I’ve been craving tamales” this was Christmas time so the craving was high and she said she would be happy to share her tamales with me. Fast forward a couple of hours and I’m receiving her tamales from a co-worker who informed me that she wanted me to have them and that the supervisor was leaving work because she just got news that her dad passed away. So I ate her tamales and they were mid. But she made them and so I had told her I would get her some tamales from a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try the tamales from. Now I come to del cielo to buy said tamales and I don’t need to go into detail about the customer service and atmosphere if you’ve been here you know it’s over the top service they provide such an amazing atmosphere. If you haven’t been your missing out so back to these tamales, these tamales gave my taste buds a feeling they have been missing for so long they took my back to my childhood when I used to eat them with family during the holidays. They are just absolutely delicious and I can’t say enough about them. If you get a chance this is definitely worth taking time out of your day and spending some time rewarding yourself with such delicious food and amazing atmosphere at del...
Read moreExcellent, love their vegan menu with a variety of delectible yummalicious food. I missed chilaquiles the most, and it arrived. Yum. The chips were homemade, as was my green sauce with just the right amount of tingle. The refried beans are in the perfect texture and amount. The shredded lettuce salad is a good accompaniment to the meal. Well plated on a beautiful large dish.
I also had the Tres Leches cake. It was well presented. The layered cake was a nice finish, well chilled. The topping was some kind of icing sugar swirled on top. There was a custard type filling, and the cake had some sauce at the base, perhaps condensed milk. I could see this shared with a good hot beverage to complement the flavors. I had most of it to go.
Isaiah was welcoming, friendly, and he knew to give me time to figure out my order and eat my meal. The restaurant is well designed with modern textures, patterns, and warm wood type table finishes leading to a comfortable at home vibe. It's open with a few niche seating. This family restaurant came highly recommended by a local. It didn't disappoint. Oh, and I absolutely enjoyed the low-key Spanish music 🎶 with someone occasionally singing along. Made me feel at home. Parking was easy. There's outside seating if...
Read moreWe'll probably try this one again and see if it changes anything. Our server was nice but inattentive. My wife and I got our drinks fairly quick but my son didn't get his until after we had eaten our meal 1 hour later. We asked the server about it and she said the kitchen had a lot of orders in front of ours so it was going to take a while. Not sure why that delayed his drink.
The food came out about 45 minutes after we ordered. They weren't very busy and a lot of staff were hanging out around the register. We only saw one to go order go out while we were there so I don't think that was it. At no point in our time there did the server even refill our water. Even though one in our party had not gotten his ordered drink.
No real complaints about the food when it finally came out. It was good but not stellar. One of our party had half their food come out and the server said the rest would be right out. We ended up getting it to go 10 minutes after we had all finished our meal.
Maybe it was an off day but they seemed to have plenty of staff and not many patrons. The buffet looked good. If we go back maybe we'll try...
