We take our team out to lunch on Friday's. There are usually 6-8 of us and we try various and sundry restaurants. I think the District is a diamond in the rough. The predominantly had one server--nice guy--but the location is rather large--so they had about 20-25% of the building for lunch--probably 20%. The poor server was running all over--they had everyone spaced so that there was no efficiency--they should group an area to increase efficiency. The other issue is the food we wanted--they were out of flat bread going into the weekend. Also, one of the flatbread dishes had bacon on it--but they were out of that as well. We waited nearly an hour from ordering for our food--we had to rush and eat and get out to go back to work. On the bright side--everyone loved the food--salads were fresh, pizza's were good--with cauliflower crust, and the burger looked interesting--but very cheesy. Overall, I think I'd give this one a bit of time to get more organized. This place has potential--we shall see where it goes. A little annoyance--of the 6 folks we had there today--5 got food about the same time--and the 6th person had an addition 10 minute delay. That's always tough.

Finally got the chance to check this place out. I used to come here when it was pastiche back in the day. So glad a local family pick this spot up and gave it a facelift. One of the owners, Tracy greeted us warmly and welcomed us to the restaurant. The staff is excellent. Everyone smiles and is welcoming. The atmosphere is modern and updated. I liked that there was a pool table and shuffleboard. Sounds like it's a lot of fun at night too especially on Tuesdays when they have trivia. Prices are very reasonable especially for what you get and the food was excellent. Had a super refreshing Orange blossom fizzy drink. The additional drinks on the menu looks great as well. I'll have to try them next time. My favorite food item was the portabella fries. The flatbread was savory and appetizing. We also had some egg rolls as well as pot stickers that were crisp and yummy as well. The star of our meal was the Apple dessert, like just the right amount of crunch, sweetness, smoothness. Highly recommend you check out this place for the people and the food. I will be bringing family and friends back here to check it out.

I’d been hearing very nice things about The District and finally made my way in for a light lunch. The restaurant was not busy, and was open and airy with inviting decor. Brooke greeted us with a genuine smile. The menu listed dishes that all seemed good and created a debate about which items to choose. We decided to try the Asian Chicken Salad but substituted Shrimp. When we mentioned that we were sharing the salad was split into two servings for us. The salad was very fresh and tasty. Shrimp were seasoned very well and perfectly cooked. Yet one caveat for me was a bit too much dressing on the salad. It felt a bit oily on the tongue, despite how bright and tasty it was. Next time, dressing on the side will rectify the issue. We also ordered the Tin Roof Fries, and they were also very nicely seasoned with an incredible crispness outside and a creamy inside. Service was unexpectedly quick and Brooke was wonderful. She visited a few times to check up how everything was, and did so very pleasantly without seeming to interrupt us. Overall, a great dining experience.

Cool Vibe at your new neighborhood restaurant and bar, The District Bites and Brews

As a longtime friend and supporter of Pat Connors and his Pastiche restaurant, I was excited to try the new restaurant at Pastiche’s former location on Campbell Ave. in Tucson, AZ. Called “The District Bites and Brews.”

Gabrielle Cordova and Tracy Hien have brought us a wonderful neighborhood bar and restaurant with a “very cool vibe”, kind of like a “Cheers” feeling in Tucson. I have been there a number of times, hanging out at the bar, going for lunch and sharing dinner and drinks with friends.

Tracey and Gabrielle are welcoming, reaching out to customers and are providing exemplary customer service, elevated bar food with some surprises, vast selection of cocktail, beers, flavored seltzers, and very affordable glasses of wine.

The owners have celebrated the vibrant spirit of the community and filled a void left by closed restaurants by creating a wonderful gathering spot “where everyone know your name.” At a recent busy night, I noticed everyone enjoying themselves, talking with friends and just having lots of fun.

Everyone there provides great service, from Tracey greeting you as you come in, Gabe asking how you are doing, bartenders Ashley describing drink options and checking in, hard working Elizabeth cheerfully multitasking, making drinks, serving tables and always asking if there is anything else you need.

Tracey and Gabe are always looking for ways to create a great community feeling at the District.

Do yourself a favor, go support Gabe and Tracey at the District, whether you are hanging out at the bar, eating dinner with friends, playing a game of pool, going to the evening trivia night (or other new activities they will be planning) or just spending time at a cool neighborhood bar (whichever neighborhood you are from).

I look forward to spending time there.. I think that next time I will order “The Big Pat Martini” and toast Pat Connors and the success of the new spot that Gabe and Tracey have...
