We love love love this great hidden gem! The other restaurants in the plaza are busy and nice in their own rights, but LaPlacita Cafe is... Great. They have an intimate setting, and the Mole' Negro is just like the dishes I ate in Puebla, Mexico!!! The service is excellent, the food authentic, the parking is generous, and a special benefit: The owners are fun and have a great sense of humor! Even the menu exemplifies the cool humor of the establishment. I'm a giant fan of the real Mole', but we've also delighted in many other meals!

The location is nice, food was good. I had the chilli relleno, cheese enchilada and taco combination plate. It came with beans and rice too. I'm just not a fan of American yellow cheese over everything, maybe use of some queso fresco would be good. The relleno and taco were tasty, freshly fried up! The waitress was very nice, but they seemed under staffed as service took longer than expected (and she was the only one working the floor). I'd recommend trying it all in all. Disclaimer: My experience is based solely on their takeout. The food here has an authentic, Sonoran style. Dishes are prepared from scratch, and the ingredients tasted fresh. My only suggestion would be to sit down and eat at this restaurant, rather than order takeout. The portions seemed to be lessened, given the price of the dish. What I ordered: rice, beans, chicken enchilada, with beef tamale and beef taco.

3-20-24 UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF 👎 My group was meeting there for lunch. I arrived and asked the waitress was my group's table in the back. She replied no. Alarmed, I immediately called our group's president. She confirmed it was the correct restaurant. I went to talk to the waitress again, this time a waiter was setting up a group table n said that's for my group. Confuse, I asked the waitress why she told me my group wasn't eating there. She said she didn't know my group was going to be there. I asked her why didn't she simple say she didn't know in the first place ... at this time the waiter who was setting the table interrupted loudly and rudly 'relax, relax'.

Rude and Unprofessional staff and guest service is a major fail. Rose

3-29-24 To the person who replied . Sounds like you were that rude worker I referred to in my review. What you saw was Marcella and me talking the second time after she gave me wrong info and misspoke. You don't know what you don't know. You were rude for...

I think a 1-star review is too high for this place. I have never seen staff so rude, nasty, and just impolite. While the server was nice, the owner was despicable and honestly doesn't care about people and her restaurant. On top of all of this, the food was absolutely mediocre. In Tucson, there are so many wonderful Mexican eats, so please go anywhere but here. Even Taco Bell has this food beat. The food is overly expensive, small portions, taste terrible, and served with a side of attitude and disrespect. Please do not support this restaurant and please patronize any other local business...

We were excited to try this place after our neighbors raved about it. When we arrived there was only 1 party there. We waited for about 5 minutes before we were told to just find a place to sit, then a few more minutes for our server. Small bowl of chips and salsa almost 10 minutes later. For 4 people, we went thru chips fast. Our meal took several more minutes. We had to ask for more chips and salsa. Server never returned to table...only 3 parties including us. Then waited forever for a bill. Never asked if we wanted anything else. The hostess brought bill. Food was...
