Went there last night and the noodles and flavors aren't as good as what people have been raving about. 6 of us went and ordered 6 different flavors of noodle bowls. We all in agreement that this place is overrated just because it's a new type of food beside the regular Chinese food that we all know. We ordered Guilin spicy & sour Taiwan beef noodles Jajiangmyum Sichuan beef noodles Guilin noodles in clear soup Dandan noodles
First, the ingredients aren't fresh, except for bok-choy, green onions, cilantro for garnish. The rest of the ingredients are 'fresh' from cans and the pot-stickers aren't freshly made. They're frozen food.
Second, the Guilin rice noodles aren't handmade or fresh noodles and this is not the real Guilin rice noodles. Been to Guilin, China, and these aren't the actual rice noodles style from Guilin. I was very disappointed because I came with expectation that I will finally find the Guilin rice noodles in Tucson. These are the type of dried noodles that you can find in Asian grocery stores. Soak them overnight or few hours before they serve them.
Third, the meats, these are the cheapest type of meats that most restaurants won't use, and their price are just way to expensive. Just because they serve in a nice bowl and we're paying for the ambiance???
Fourth, the Jajiangmyum... I'm not sure what flavor do they want to serve us, Korean style or the Chinese style? The flavor that we tasted last night, in my opinion, is a Korean style because it's sweet...way too sweet. The actual Chinese style is not supposed to be sweet. But I guess, it doesn't matter because most people doesn't know the actual flavor of Jajiangmyum... the spelling is also incorrect.
I have more to say......overall I won't recommend because I don't want to mislead others to think that this place serves good noodles or good food, and I personally and my group won't go back. Also, they use a lot of MSG because my mouth was burning and I was really thirsty after eating from there. This is my side effect if the food that I eat has lots of MSG or vice versa.
Also, don't be misled, just because there're a lot of Asian students, it means that this place is accepted by Asians in general. Not to me. I'm only expressing my opinion on the food (objective opinion), to provide a different spectrum of opinion from an Asian...
Read moreDo yourself a favor. If it's a day when they're open, you need to go down to Noodleholics, get yourself a big bowl of noodles, and get lost in the unbelievable flavors of Chinese cuisine. Delight yourself. You deserve this.
Oh, why, you ask?
Each item I have tried (to date: the delightfully spicy chaoshou dumplings, the almost impossibly crisp and well seasoned salt and pepper fried chicken wings, the Guilin spicy soup, with its thin, almost epehemeral noodles afloat in a delicately balanced broth, topped with any of the meats they have available, the dandan noodles in a beautifully creamy and spiced sesame-heavy broth, nutty and rich, the spicy Sichuan beef noodle soup with its abundance of Sichuan peppercorn that leaves your tongue and lips dancing with joy, and the sizzling garlic noodles, which are loaded up with spicy chili, rich green onions, and fragrant raw garlic, then topped with a splash of hot oil, causing it all to bloom in the most incredible way) is absolutely perfect. Each item made with care, loaded with flavor. And though you might be wondering, no: they have nothing to hide behind all these spices. The noodles are made in-house and they are always exceptional. The vegetable ingredients are always crisp and fresh. The Chinese pickles on the Guilin noodles are otherworldly.
The place can get busy, and for good reason. If you come at peak hours, you might need to wait. Believe me when I say it's worth it. There isn't a ton of seating, you need to get your own chopsticks and napkins and water, whatever. It doesn't even matter. The interior is brightly lit and modern and I would wait hours for this food. I just ate here and I'm already dreaming of it again.
As an aside, the service is always exceptional. Prompt, friendly, and polite. I recognize the same group of servers each time I come in, they must work a ton! but they're the epitome of graciousness. Hats off.
tl;dr: Go to Noodleholics. Go now. Be bold. You...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed with Poor Customer Service
I recently visited Noodleholics with my family for a dine-in experience, and I must say that the customer service we received was absolutely appalling. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were met with rude and unprofessional behavior from the staff.
Upon arrival at 8:30 PM, we noticed a staff member cleaning tables. We politely requested if she could wipe down our table, but she completely ignored us and instead yelled across the restaurant to the cashier, asking if they were still serving dine-in. This lack of acknowledgement and the disrespectful manner in which she responded left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected.
To make matters worse, she turned to us and condescendingly stated, "Just so you know, we close in 30 minutes." Keep in mind that there were other customers in the restaurant, including two families looking at the menu and another family who had just placed their order. Instead of providing a welcoming environment, this staff member started slamming chairs in a fit of frustration.
This behavior was so unsettling that even my daughter noticed and asked, "Mommy, what's wrong with her?" It was an embarrassing and uncomfortable situation for my entire family. We decided that we could not tolerate such poor service and promptly left the restaurant.
It's disheartening to think that we drove 27 minutes to try out a new place, only to be met with such subpar service. The managers at this location really need to step up their game when it comes to hiring and training their staff. Customers should be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of the time or circumstances.
It's a shame that a potentially good dining experience was ruined by such...
