I should have read the menu more carefully; I'm really not a big fan of Chipotle. So imagine my surprise when the fish and shrimp tacos I ordered, topped with a creamy chipotle sauce, were soooo delicious! The fish and shrimp were beautifully seasoned (see photos), the tortilla was nice, soft, and fluffy, and the vegetables were very fresh. Because tacos have so few ingredients, it is really important to get all of those ingredients right, and every single part of my tacos was spot-on.
Since it was happy hour, I also picked up a house margarita. Margaritas aren't my favorite drink, but if you tell me that you do something really well and then offer it to me at happy hour prices, I'll try it! Turns out they weren't lying - their house margarita was uncommonly delicious and now I really want to try some of the other varieties they have on offer.
The refried beans had a beautiful buttery texture and a nice light taste. The Mexican rice was Mexican rice. đ I'm still open for someone to make rice that blows me out of the water, but it hasn't happened yet.
I had a really hard time choosing between the lemon leches cake and the Mexican brownie, but since it was one of these 105F summer days, I decided on the lemon cake. What a sweet surprise; pretty sure the icing is made with Meyer lemons, it had that particular tart sweetness that is SO Tucson. Warm and melty at the bottom, with nicely chilled icing on top, a moist, creamy cake and refreshingly tart finish, you can see I cleaned my plate: I couldn't stop eating it. đ
I still want to try the Mexican brownie, and I didn't know about the margarita flight before I went. Darn, I guess I just...
Read moreI just want to start out by saying Taqueira Dos Hermanos is an outstanding restaurant and bar. We frequent this place with our friends and family. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with chips and great salsa. The drink menu is so good with a wide spectrum of wines, beer, and hard liquor. My favorite is the long island ice tea and a Arnold Palmer with vodka. My wife's favorite is there Margarita and Rum and Diet coke. Don't waist your time or money going to other bar establishments for a nice large strong drinks. Because most places serve very weak mixed drinks. Dos Hermanos has you covered and there drinks are spot on. They also have a great Happy Hour. If you decide to sit on or near the bar don't forget to check out there works of art Zombie bat's. They are so cool. Make sure you start out with one of there appetizers while you enjoy your drink. I highly recommend there Chicken or Birria Flautas and the dipping sauce. Now for the best part. They have a wide variety of great food. My current new favorite is Camarones Al Tequila. It's a beautiful plate of shrimp, rice, roasted corn, jalapenos, zucchini, cilantro, and a terrific cream sauce that blends all the ingredients perfect. If you like soups try there Posole and Birria. They are so good. I've had there Burros, Tacos, Quesadillas, Hamburgers and my Granddaughter favorite Chipilon Hotdog. I'm so grateful to have La Taqueira Dos Hermonos in the Rita Ranch area. I see how hard the owners Jorge, Sergio and Angelina with there excellent staff work to give there customers the best experience possible. Please give this place a visit and experience the best service, drink, and food...
