My family and I were thrift shopping when a fantastic scent caught our attention. We literally followed the aroma to Soul Good. We didn't know Alley Dog had closed until we saw the signs for Soul Good. I'm a huge Soul Food fan and instantly wanted to give this place a try.
There are seven of us so we ordered a bunch of food including the fried ribs, BBQ chicken, tri-tip sliders, Buffalo chicken sliders, pulled pork sliders, collard greens, mac and cheese, candied yams, cornbread, sweet potato pie, and fried fish.
Everything was PHENOMENAL. All seven of us loved it. My wife is now obsessed with collard greens. The BBQ chicken dropped off the bone. The sliders almost instantly disappeared. We had no leftovers.
The team was friendly and welcoming. They felt genuine and that they cared about their customers. I enjoyed interacting with them and the whole experience.
We went back again yesterday.
As a fair warning, it is outside dining, so the weather conditions will have a big impact on your sit-down experience. It was raining yesterday and we got our food to go. The first time we visited we ate outside. The weather was beautiful, the smoker smelled amazing, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe.
Solid 5 stars across the board from my family and I. We will be...

My wife and I were walking around K Street in Tulare when we stumbled across a little restaurant tucked away in a parking lot. Curiosity got the best of us, so we wandered over and discovered Soul Good, a soul food spot that truly lives up to its name.
We were hungry, so we ordered the fried ribs and potato salad—and let me tell you, this was some of the best soul food we’ve had in years. My wife said the fried ribs were the best she’s had since her grandmother’s cooking from years ago. They were served over smothered rice, perfectly seasoned and incredibly flavorful. The potato salad? Absolutely incredible—fresh, creamy, and brought me back 35 years to when my own grandmother used to make it.
It’s rare to find food that feels like home, but Soul Good hit that mark. We’re already planning our next visit to try the sliders, catfish, mac and cheese, and everything else on the menu. If you’re anywhere near Tulare, do yourself a favor and find this place. It’s tucked away, but totally...
