Tonight was my wife's and my first and last time dining at this establishment. From the moment we came in, everything was a trainwreck. When the waiter asked me what I wanted to drink, I said please wait a second, because my wife was walking in as I speaking, and she would be at the table in about 15 seconds. He took off, and it took another 3 minutes before he came back.
Then, our orders were repeatedly screwed up. I told him I wanted a Chimichanga, but with shredded cheese, instead of the melted cheese they normally use, on the side. When the order finally arrived, there was melted cheese on the side. Both my wife and I each ordered an Elote' Street Corn as an appetizer, and we made it clear we wanted it before our entre' had arrived. It did, but only by 15 seconds. The corn was old and stale, and, I can honestly say it was the worst Elote' we have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It took our order over 30 minutes to arrive. Even though it was during the dinner hour on a Saturday night, this is unacceptable. The beef in my taco was extremely greasy, and it smelled very similar to sweaty gym socks. My wife's order was so salty and greasy, she sent it back. About the only thing I can say was above average were the tortilla chips they bring you to munch on while you're waiting for your meal to arrive.
The loud noise in this place is terrible! There are no accustic boards to absorb the loud sounds, and you cannot hear yourself think. This, in my opinion, is why the waiter was not getting our orders correct. When the the staff does a birthday celebration for one of the customers, they whistle at such a high pitch sound, it hurt my very sensitive ears.
I will give the manager credit for listening to our concerns, and knocking my wife's entre' off of our bill, but, it was pretty much, "Too little too late" at that point! You can take my opinion for what it is worth, and weigh it with all the other reviews, but, my wife and I will never...
Read moreExcellent service and Excellent Mexican cuisine. This is still, essentially the excellent El Tequila restaurant. I believe there has been a little change in ownership, some remodeling has been done and a new name on the door. If you had not been here before, it is an enormous restaurant and enormously popular, especially on the weekend. And there is a good reason for it. The food and service is some of the very best in Tulsa. It is sufficiently and professionally staffed to handle the crowds. My wife and I had a Sunday lunch here in November of 2016. The food and service was a five star then and it was even better today. Their staff is some of the best. We were lucky to get a very nice young lady by the name of Ana. She is super nice, friendly and has a smile that will brighten your day. Sometime the staff’s attitude can make or break your dining experience regardless of the quality of the food. Our food was excellent and the quality of the service a bonus. We were there a 2 PM and it was packed. There were several large family groups here today celebrating a member‘s birthday. There was only one open both left. We had chips, salsa and drinks promptly and the food was served sooner than I would have expected from a restaurant of this size. Our meals were the Enchiladas Verde (three big chicken filled enchiladas covered with their tomatillo chili) and the Enchiladas Poblanos (three cheese enchiladas covered with shredded chicken and their mole sauce). The food was excellent, so I won’t drag out the descriptions any more than that. The plates were big and we left with lunch in a go box for tomorrow. Read moreI wasn't going to post about this restaurant, but google asked so, here we go!
Over the last 10 years, I've visited this restaurant (pre & post name change) and it used to be a favorite amongst several of my varying circles. But the last 4 visits over had have been the worst with this visit 6 days ago putting a nail in the coffin for me, once and for all.
While trying to decide what to eat that evening, I got a phone call from my sister to come meet her and my neices at Casa Tequila. Due to our previous visits we were apprehensive but ended giving in and meeting her there.
She was already sat so upon arrival my family and I by passed the empty host stand (after waiting 7 minutes and no one greeting us) amd went to find her.
The area of the restaurant where they had sad her was a section I'd NEVER been sat in before, there were 4 fan units on the ground and exposed piping in the walls and ceilings. There was also a small of mildew...
Our server struggled to take our order. He got many of our items wrong or just omitted them all together and then when my sister tried to correct and request a new a drink that she orders EVERY WHERE SHE GOES she was met with a combative email employee whom we'd not seen before. She was rude amd spoke over my sister, my husband and I and then tried argue with us when the guy server charged auto gratuity on 5 plates.... 3 of our party were babies who didn't eat anything at that place, so when the menu tells you gratuity is added to 6 OR MORE how do you do that then say "oh we just changed it now to 5 or 6, or maybe 7"
The gm ended up coming and trying to fix the situation but he didn't help much.
My family of 6 will NEVER eat here again. Thankfully mexican options are a dime a dozen...
