The pizzeria has such an amazing nostalgic feel and ambience. It feels like an actual old school, mom&pop, corner store Pizzeria in NYC. There's a guy tossing the dough right in front of you and the people were very welcoming and pretty cool. They were out of the white pizza and Jamaican beef patty when I asked. So I just wanted to try a slice of plain cheese as the taste test to see if I'd grab a pie. Their ingredients are decent! Impeccably great cheese that I'd rate as 5 star taste! Sauce was decent but a little salty. The only drawback was the dough/crust being a quite tough though. I thought maybe that's only due to the reheat. I ended ordering an extra large plain pie with extra cheese. When I brought it in, I tried to take a slice and the cheese was not set. So the slice somewhat disintegrated in my now oily hands. The oil though is what makes it great because you know you have amazing tasty cheese. However, it created a little mess. While taking a few bites out seemed the dough crust was indeed hard with the pie too. I believe it needs a minute or two less baking to not be cardboard hard. It's either that or that the heat in the oven is too much (or maybe being the end of the day). Bcs There were also few char marks and very few burnt pieces from what i believe were other bakes stuck to the bottom of the dough on my pie. This did/does not detract from the flavor much but it does leave a few small, hard, bitter, burnt spots on the dough which doesn't help accentuate the greaters parts of the pizza pie. I would've rated the place 3 stars if it weren't for how friendly the servers/staff were, and how impressive the cheese was. Since it was my first visit, the manager on duty decided to comp the extra cheese on my pie! All that being said, it all balanced out to a very solid 4-star service rating. It's definitely worth visiting the location for the people & tasting authentically delicious flavors of...
Read morePretty good pizza. One day, The staff was having trouble wearing masks and staying safe. I pointed this out in an earlier post and the management came back either the following response. We must support and applauded those businesses who put safety first at all times.
“... The health and safety of our staff and guests is our biggest priority. That goes for ownership, management, and any other employee. We do an EXCELLENT job of wearing masks, if we do say so ourselves. That's not to mention all the constant hand washing and general sanitizing we do. There are other restaurants that actually refuse to wear masks, for whatever reason. We find that position ridiculous and inexcusable.
With this said, we are all human. We all make mistakes from time to time. And as serious as the pandemic is, it still doesn't take away that people forget, or make mistakes.
Please, rest assure, the manager the original poster is describing takes the pandemic very seriously, and wearing a mask is only one of the preventative means that he has taken to keep himself virus free for over a year.
If he was indeed seen without a mask, I can say with certainty, he had forgetful moment and corrected himself shortly thereafter. Although, this is no excuse, it is certainly an explanation. All staff members will be shown this post and reminded that we can always improve the way in which we work to keep each other safe during these critical times. Thank...
Read moreThis was a hard review for me because I love New York style pizza so much and I love pizza just in general this was the first time I ever tried this restaurant. I usually always go with the cheese whenever I try something for the first time and I have to admit the cheese had a lot of flavor and was very delicious! But the reason I'm definitely not giving them 5 stars honestly I wanted to give them 3 stars but due to how good the cheese alone was I'm going to settle for four stars the main issue that I have is that the integrity of the pizza was so saturated with the grease that's some of the pizza literally fell apart I put a picture of one of the slices so due to how saturated with grease the pizza was I'm giving them thre stars but they earned an additional star due to the fact of how reasonable the prices are a 16 inch large cheese pizza only cost $14 so for the price and the taste of the cheese ingredient alone I am giving them four stars I would recommend this place to other individuals looking for a quick bite it wasn't busy but just know that if you just get the cheese it's going to be very messy on the thin crust be prepared to eat a lot of Grease. I still think Andolini' s on Cherry Street is still the best pizza I've had in town but I'm not saying this isn't good obviously Andolini's is a bit more pricey so this was a good pizza this is way better than Mazzio's Domino's Papa John's or any other...
