Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Tulsa

Outback has been one of our favorite places to eat for decades. Our experience at this Outback on Yale in Tulsa was so bad I felt the need to go to the trouble to put this review out there. As you can see from the receipt 4 of us on the ticket for $144. Walked in at 6:05pm on a Saturday and left at 7:40pm! It was already full, but we were seated right away. Our waiter brought drinks right away. Our bloomin onion came out perfect and we placed our order. The place slowly started emptying out as we waited for our food...and we waited. Wish I'd have timed the wait but did not. The lady across from us must have waited 20 minutes for a dessert she had ordered to go. We did get a small apology from our waiter for the delay with no explanation. Our guests did not complain about the food, but ours was definitely not up to par. I ordered pork chops that were so tough I had trouble cutting them up to feed my dogs when I got home. My husband's ribs on his Drover's platter had a wang and were tough too. At this point the waiter was so busy with new customers coming in we were ignored. We had to ask for our ticket and was never asked about refills or drinks to go. I had given the waiter my phone number for the rewards app. When I checked the app I found no way to see if our ticket was applied to my rewards account so I can only assume it was not based on our bad experience. As an Australian who now lives in OKC, it pains me to write this review. Yesterday afternoon my wife and I stopped in here and ordered Sydney Shrooms which were magnificent, and 2 orders of Alice Springs Chicken. Our server, Divine (not sure of the spelling) was friendly but when our food arrived my chicken could only be described as almost soup like. However, my wife who ordered the exact same thing wasnt anything like mine. After a few bites I let the server know that I wasn't happy and he took it back to the kitchen. He said that its just how they put the butter on the chicken (out of a bag) and that's why its that way, but we've been eating at outback for years and never had it like this. I think the part that really annoyed me was when I got my food back, I still had the same half eaten mashed potatoes, and chicken on a cleaned up plate with some seasoning sprinkled over it to try and make it look new. It was warm at best and the chicken was somehow dry (unlike the chicken we had the day before at Texas Roadhouse) We did speak with the manager who was nice but not really helpful, and certainly didn't back up the promise that she made when we were first seated.

No discount, no I'm sorry or anything like that. Outback certainly isn't on the cheaper side of chain steakhouses so you expect the quality to be there which in this case it wasnt. Next time we are in the Tulsa area we will skip Outback and try...

Let me begin by saying, if I could leave a ten star review for this team I would do so immediately. Three weeks ago I found myself having to drive from Nashville to Tulsa with no time to plan ahead. My 85 year old Dad was lying in the hospital in critical condition. After a few days of refusing food, I was able to coax him in to his favorite meal…Outback’s burger. I arrived before they opened so as to get Dads lunch before the rush of noontime diners. The owner/manager greeted me warmly and staff of gold ensued. Ella, asked what brought me in that day. I explained the situation and Ella immediately grabbed me a drink to enjoy as I awaited my order. Once my meal was ready to go, she handed me a card to my father that the entire team had signed with their well wishes. The way my Dads face lit up reading that card and watching him enjoy food for the first time in two weeks melted my heart. I returned to this Outback to pick up grilled chicken for Dads dinner. I mean, if you’re on a roll you stick with it. The team was even lovelier, asking how my father was faring. I will absolutely return here every time I visit and encourage all to go in, get to know this truly wonderful team and get a great meal at the same time.
