The owner/chef was the best part of this place. Very friendly and accommodating. Given that my experience was from takeout, not dine-in, my rating is more heavily weighted on the food itself.
Honestly, calling it mediocre would be generous. I got the BBQ wings plate (with Mac n cheese) and the hot wings plate (with Mac n cheese). I'd give the BBQ sauce a 4/10. It tasted too much of both ketchup and vinegar, and not at all balanced. Yes, I understand that they are critical components of most BBQ sauces. The problem was that ratios were off, and the sauce just wasn't good. I ate only 2 of the wings before throwing the rest out. Couldn't even finish them. The chicken itself seemed well cooked, with crispy skin and juicy meat. The lackluster sauce just ruined it. I took one bite of the Mac n cheese before throwing it out. The cheese sauce seems to be made in house, but it was very bland and not mixed well. It had a grainy texture, rather than a smoothe, cheese texture that one would expect of a cheese sauce. Bad texture, bland flavor. It was bad to the point where I'd be reluctant to even try it again, assuming that they've made any changes to how they make the sauce. The hot wings were the best part of the meal, and I'd rate them 6.5/10. This time, however,, the chicken was overcooked and dry, and the sauce was... just okay. Nothing really memorable. It has a delayed heat that you really feel in the back of your throat, and not so much setting your mouth ablaze from the moment you bite into the chicken - which was nice. Nothing really negative to say about the flavor of this sauce, but also nothing that warrants a raving review.
Overall rating: 5/10
Probably won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI finally made it here! And It was well worth the trip. It makes a food experience so much more enjoyable when the people making the food and serving you are so passionate about their craft. I walked in and Steve was chatting It up with the customer before me while I gave the menu a look over, chuckling at the commentary going on. When it was my time he went over the menu
items and preparation used in the items. After a long internal debate I ordered up the 2meat, steak bites and gravy, the smoked sausage bites in their hot sauce, and I wasn't leaving without trying their baked mac. I'm an okie, we're in Oklahoma so let's start with the gravy....Im not sure words can
describe this deliciousness....just throw me in a 50 gallon barrel of this gravy when my days are over and bury me in that! This gravy paired with the lightly breaded steak bites fried in beef tallow are heaven on earth. Before I even left the parking lot with my meal to go I had to pop the top on the Mac and cheese and grab some bites I was starving and everything smelled so good. This is not your blue box runny mac, this is that
homemade baked Mac that all the sinners would be begging for the recipe at the church potluck on any give Sunday. Bacon and onion baked into this cheesey Mac with a panko crust on top. The smoked sausage bites were well cooked the casing still had a slight snap to it letting you know this is in fact a real sliced sausage link and the hot bbq type sauce was not too sweet, not too spicy. I would have taken the whole menu home with me but I thought, some other people might want some food today too. Definitely worth the visit and I will be back to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIdk how their jerky is but thier food is not worth the gas. Some bitterness to it. the smoked sausage my friend had was the same old same old, store bought kielbasa sausage. BBQ sauce was warm, but not great. Tasted like old ketchup smells, tried a single chicken wing, meh, same old same old. Macaroni and cheese, Verry strange and it appeared as vomit. Wasn't much better. Wasn't mac n cheese. There's way too many great places in Tulsa to try to do this. They have alot to learn in this game. This is not California bbq here. Stays the same, won't last like so many find out. Jerky looked good though. Idk about $25 a tiny bag lol. Must be unicorn meat. Looking forward to their Infamous " fake review!!" rant they always do. Thanks for the try anyways. Not good. Shrugs...
Reply: This is Oklahoma. " Cattle Country" Idk what they're giving for our beef in California, But son, I get 5 ounces of beef jerky all day for $11.99. You tell the man who makes it that it's also fake.lol.
You started out as a jerky business but quickly ended that and changed it to something else. Your jerky will not sell for that here. Most people make their own jerky. If not. We won't pay $25 for that, obviously lol Didn't think your food was that great. I didn't throw it away to anger you, it just wasn't that great. If you rage, you lose, sir. Maybe try another take. Alpha Grill BBQ on 66th and Lewis. is smoking in business and quality. That's REAL bbq there. I doubt you've ever had anything that good. Dam sure isnt there lol. Alpha blows you away, really bad. Embarrassingly bad if compared. Good luck in business, ...
