I know there are dangers in allowing students to cut your hair. But I will never get another haircut there. I went in yesterday to get 1 to 1.5 in cut off my ends. I am African-American so I have very thick hair. They pulled me off with an African-American student I totally forget her name. And she asked me how much would you like cut at the same time she was holding the side of my hair up to my face and it was approximately an inch maybe a little bit more than an inch and I said that would be fine. I admit I have to take some responsibility in this because I already knew something was wrong when she took almost an hour just to cut it and also she did not have me facing the mirror where I could watch her. To make a long story short, when she finished it was more like 2in off and it was very uneven. I pointed it out to her I said one side is longer than the other by about an inch. She said I'll fix it is she got the scissors and started cutting again. My friend who was with me getting her hair done seat at next to me stated after the second time she cut it it was still uneven which at one point I demand to see a supervisor. I turned around and looked in the mirror and I just about lost it. The supervisor came and asked me was she couldn't your hair into a bob? I immediately told the supervisor I just came in to get the dead ends clipped off my hair. The supervisor looked and immediately have to fix the cut and Bam! About three inches of my hair has been cut. We were also scheduled for a pedicure. When my friends stylist stated are y'all ready for your pedicures and I looked at my friend I said I can't do this anymore. Especially when the stylist said that the person that cut my hair was going to give me the pedicure I immediately said oh no I'm good I'm done. My friend immediately requested somebody else to do my pedicure. And that turned out beautiful! I want to ask Clary Sage how can you release a student that doesn't even know how to trim hair onto the floor and completely mess up people's hair? The Stylist was very incompetent. I would never recommend anybody to go there to get their haircut OK I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR DEREK TO CALL ME LAST WEEK AND NEVER GOT A RETURN CALL. HOW RUDE ! THANK YOU FOR MESSING MY HAIR UP AND IGNORING...

Our experience at Clary Sage College in Tulsa was absolutely disgusting — and honestly, traumatizing.
We brought our 4-year-old autistic, non-verbal son in for their free kids’ haircut event. I called the day before, clearly explained his disability, how he processes things, and asked if they could accommodate him. They assured me they could. That was a complete lie.
As soon as we walked in, the attitude changed. Some of the staff treated him like a problem the moment he didn’t sit quietly like a “normal” child. They claimed he was “disturbing” and “scaring” the other kids and told us he needed to be secluded away from everyone else. Then they had the audacity to tell us we were forcing him to do something he didn’t want — when I explained this is how he handles haircuts, and we work through it every single time, with patience.
They didn’t care. They were cold, judgmental, and downright cruel. No compassion, no understanding — just stares, rude comments, and ugly looks from the majority of the staff. Then they threw us out in the middle of his haircut. His hair was half done, and he was crying. And the staff didn’t care at all.
I spoke to the director, hoping for some level of accountability or apology. Instead, I got blamed for bringing a disabled child to their event. She brushed it off, saying the staff were “stressed,” as if that justifies treating a child like trash. No responsibility. No regret. Just excuses.
This place is NOT inclusive. They are NOT trained to work with neurodivergent children. What happened to us was discrimination, plain and simple. My child was mistreated because of his disability, and as a mother, I have never felt so hurt, humiliated, and enraged.
Shame on every single staff member who stood by and said nothing. Shame on the director for enabling that behavior. And shame on Clary Sage for pretending to be a safe space for kids when they are clearly not.
DO NOT take your child here. Especially if they are neurodivergent, sensitive, or anything other than “perfect.” This place does not deserve your trust, your time, or...
