Overall much better than the one in Stillwater! We had to get our bueno fix while here as the one in our town is disappointing most of the time. We each ordered a Wholotta Platter, to get a sampling of everything we love, she got chicken and I got beef. The only things that were disappointing were the taco and dip shells, they had not been heated to make them crispy. It tasted like they just grabbed them out of the storage container and used them. When I worked here a long, long time ago we used to fry corn tortillas on a special rack that kept their shape and store them in the metal bins and heat them up a container at a time under the heat lamps for use to crisp them up again which was what gave them that awesome crunch. Idk if they still make them that way or not as its been a long time. Other than that everything was really good, they still use the 3oz containers for the regular queso here which tells me that our local bueno is in fact cheating the customers as they have been using the salsa sized 2oz containers for the queso for the past year and only half filling them! I will definitely be sending in a complaint now that I know we were straight up lied to when we have asked about it and everyone that eats at the one in Stillwater is getting ripped off on that as well as a few other things, like the chicken muchaco not having beans, only the beef, and the mexi dips and chips only getting one scoop of guacamole and not 2, if they even make the guacamole. Often they just scoop out of the plastic avocado container it comes in and don't mix it up with the mayo and seasoning leaving it very bland and disappointing. This location made everything correctly with the one exception of the taco shells and the dip shells not being crispy/crunchy which could have been just because they hadn't been under the heat lamp long enough and they forgot the cheese on our refried beans, I asked for no chili sauce on anything, but we still wanted the shredded cheese on the beans and the guacamole was starting to turn black but it still tasted fine, they just need to remember to press that plastic wrap directly onto the guac to keep the air out in between uses so that it keeps its color. We did get a nice full scoop of it and a decent amount of sour cream on our platters though. Overall we would definitely...
Read moreDon't use the drive through. I have come here a long time. The service has become slower and slower in the drive through. I know since the pandemic businesses are having problems with getting enough help and it may not be anything the manager or owner can do at this time. Sometimes they have closed down in the middle of their open hours. No sign explaining anything. Today they were open and I got in line behind two vehicles one at the mic.and one behind him. There were several also passed the mic. The vehicle at the mic stayed at the mic for ages. Since no one was behind me I started thinking I should just back up and leave but the others by the pic up window started moving. So thought the vehicle at the mic should move. Nope. So I looked in the rear view mirror and oops, now another vehicle had come in behind me and I could not back out. So I waited a while longer and eventually the vehicle at the mic moves. The next vehicle pulls up to the mic and also waits a long time and finally a worker comes out and puts something on a pill near the order mic and talks briefly to the driver and the vehicle pulls passed the mic. So I pull up I can see he had posted a notice, but just used a regular pen and it was too light and narrow to read. I was about get out of the van to get closer to read it when he came out again and told me it wasn't working and to order at the window. So I pull passed the mic and slowly get to the window. I had a simple order. 4 party tacos with Pico de Gyo (sp?) and mild salsa. Got my order quickly and went home. No Pico or salsa. I knew I should have checked in the sack before I left. I had none at home.70 minutes in that drive through...
Read moreThere was one car already at the window, and one car in front of me, sitting at the speaker. Nothing happened anywhere, for at least 10 minutes. I was trying to be patient, because you never know who’s in front of you or behind you. I could see the woman who worked at the window, wandering around and thought she was waiting on someone preparing my order. She finally sauntered over to all the ingredients and started preparing my order. By this time I’ve been there almost 20 minutes, and that’s behind one person. The real disappointment happened when I got home. The tortilla shells and tostada shells were so stale, that they were chewy. I started eating at Taco Bueno in 1972, when they opened their first one in Tulsa, on 21st St. off Sheridan. I loved it from that time on. I think their menu is way too ambitious, when they can’t even get the basic things right. I love their salsa, and I wish they would bottle and sell it at the grocery store. I won’t be eating again there soon, unless I forget about...
