I have been to this restaurant multiple times over the years and have never had a problem until recently. I went with a family member a couple days ago. We get seated quickly. After ordering food, a man comes over to us and tells us Merry Christmas and that he is paying for our food. He did this for a couple different tables in the restaurant! How sweet of him. He really did make our day. We waited over an hour for food. People who got to the restaurant 30 minutes after us had already gotten their food. Our waitress was no where to be found. When we finally did see her, I asked her when our food was going to be out. She looked utterly confused and said she thought we had already eaten. Well, we hadn’t eaten which she would know if she had checked on her table at least once in the hour we were sitting there (I’m not joking, no refills on drinks or anything). She ensures us she will put the order back in because apparently it had been cancelled out. We waited another 20 minutes for our food to come out. After we finished eating, a different guy brings us a bill. I was confused because I was absolutely positive that the meal was already paid for. He had no idea what I was talking about. He came back and said “my manager believes you that someone paid for your meal so if you say that happened, then don’t worry about paying”. I mean, I’m not going to leave the restaurant if the restaurant isn’t 100% positive that the food was already paid for. We had to wait another 15 minutes for our initial waitress to come out to be sure that our bill was already paid. She said she thought it was and then proceeded to say “but don’t forget to give me a big tip!” Who says that to a table that they barely serviced? I am just in shock at the poor service because that has never been an issue for me at this restaurant. Our waitress never checked on our table because if she had, none of this would...
Read moreWe ordered take out from Brothers Houligan again last night. We've had service issues in the past, once they never put the order in, and another time, we waited for an hour for a carry out order. But in their defense, they made it right on both those occasions. This time I called ahead to get a wait time for carry out, then called back and put the order in. Got to the restaurant where an older lady, who was standing at the hostess stand, looked right at me, turned and walked off without any acknowledgment, etc. Fine. I wait for the next employee, and finally one shows up. Got the order after a 10 minute wait or so and went to leave and thought I better check the order. They forgot our rolls. No biggie. Went back inside and stood around some more and finally got waited on. The employee got the rolls and then he wanted to come outside to check the rest of our order. Ok sure. Seemed a little odd, but it was fine. Got home, and unpacked the dinner, which was two chicken fried steak dinners, cottage fries, green beans, and two salads and rolls, extra gravy. All was normal looking. I started with my salad, and halfway through my salad, I feel something in my mouth that I think is a hair. Lo and behold, it is a hair, long and black, and it isn't mine. So yeah. Threw out the salad. And debated on whether I should call the restaurant and then decided not to. I'm not sure what could be done at that point. Appetite is totally gone. And they were very busy. Anyway, my better half enjoyed his meal, with the exception of the cold cottage fries. Suffice to say, I don't envision us going back, which is too bad, because their chicken fried IS really good even with the dodgy service, but if they can't run the kitchen staff better by insisting on basic hygiene, like hair nets for those preparing food with super long hair,...
Read moreI’ll start by saying I’ve only eaten here 3 times and overall I like it. The first 2 times we dined in and loved the service and the food. I think I’ve done a burger and catfish on those trips. Today I ordered out and took it 25 minutes to my house, with that much time between the cook and eating I expect there to be a quality drop that they can’t control and I won’t let that affect my review. I’ve been told I need to try the CFS there because theirs is the best around, so I got the finger version with gravy and fries. Their type of fries are typically my favorite and I still ordered them knowing they wouldn’t be fresh by the time I ate them, no biggie on that part. The had them in a brown paper bag that was dripping with oil when I removed them from the plastic bag. The bag was falling apart it was so soaked. Inside the to go box was about 7, 2 inch pieces of country fried steak, which isn’t necessarily a small portion but for $17 I would have expected a little more. It was about half the amount of a standard CFS. It was very tough and chewy, but again, it may have been better fresh out the fryer. The gravy it came with was slightly sweet which threw me off but it wasn’t the worst thing ever. I did get a cup of the tomato soup which was pretty good, probably the best part of the meal. Not a traditional version, at least to me anyway, tasted like a lasagna soup without the noodles. Not bad. Overall I still like the place and will try it again but I probably won’t go the CFS route. Oh, and I was hoping there would have been some of their killer green beans because I thought they came with every meal and there wasn’t. Not going to make a big stink about it because I assume that’s for dine in patrons. Anyway, they are known around town for their CFS so don’t let my review keep you from trying it, it was probably...
