This is a small one man operation (Kevin the owner). Kevin is a super friendly guy whom likes to visit with his customers. He will gladly tell you about his Mediterranean food offerings and help you decide on a meal if you are unfamiliar with some of the dishes. You can quickly tell that he has pride and ownership in his restaurant. The deli is an order at the counter, and pick up the food at the counter. The menu is limited, but what they do have is very good! The only item I was not familiar with was the Raita. I had to try it! Spicy Good! We had the Gyro with fries and the Chicken Kabab Plate with a side of Falafels. The Gyro was good as were the perfectly cooked fries that came with it. It was a big Gyro and pile of fries. You can load your Chicken Kabab plate with a selection of 5 items; beans or rice and 4 other items. This is where it gets a little confusing. Anyway, I went with Tabbouleh, Tzatziki Sauce, Hummus and Raita. The dips were served up a little different than I am used to. They were spread on the rice and then two large chicken kababs were placed on top. You can get the sauces on the side if you ask. There was nothing bland on this plate. The chicken kabab is ground chicken blended with onions and spices; then grilled. Fantastic flavors! The dips too were loaded with spice and magnificent flavor. The Falafels were extraordinary. Coarsely ground garbanzo beans blended with generous amounts of spice and fried to a flawless crunchy texture! The Chicken Kabab, the sauces (especially the Raita) and the Falafels are recommended. It all leaves an appetizing garlicky, Mediterranean spice taste in your mouth at the end...
Read moreI saw the name Tikka Kabab pop up on a Facebook group for hidden gems/hole-in-the-wall places in the Tulsa area. My wife and I almost always go out to eat on Sundays, and they were open. We both enjoy Mediterranean food and hole-in-the-wall places so we made the drive from Coweta to Tulsa, which we usually do on Sundays anyhow. We were greeted by a gentleman behind the counter. He offered help/advice if we had any questions.
After taking a few moments to browse the menu we knew what we wanted. My wife ordered the gyro combo. She asked if he could do onion rings as a side and he said it would only be $1 extra. That sounded reasonable so that's what she did along with a fountain drink(included). I went with the plate meal so I could customize what I got. You get an entrée and 4 sides. I got gyro meat, double hummus, and double tabbouleh.
My order came out first and it looked fantastic. Not but just a few minutes later my wife had her meal. I made sure to snap a few pictures with the intent of giving this nice gentleman and his establishment a review. What was supposed to be hot was and what should be cold was cold. The portion size was generous on both meals. Everything was fantastic.
The owner casually chatted with us as we ate our meal, we were the only patrons at the time, and we even learned a little about what Halal is/means. Between the good food, generous portions, reasonable price, and pleasant owner we have no reason not to come back and support this...
Read moreI live out of state, but often come back to the Tulsa area to visit family. I have eaten at this establishment three times over the past two years. The first two times, I was happy with my food and the service. Yesterday was the third and last time I will ever choose this restaurant because what I witnessed was completely unacceptable by food safety standards. The owner (and cook) was prepping raw chicken in the front area next to the cash register. He had a glove on one hand and was cutting raw chicken breasts with the other. I placed a to-go order and proceeded to watch him prepare our entire order without washing his hands. He didn’t even take the dirty raw chicken meat glove off. He handled our cooked food and all of the packaging with contaminated hands. I was mortified, but I am also not confrontational enough to say anything about it in person. I took the order from him, walked outside and found a trash can, threw the food away, went back to my car, sanitized my hands, and found somewhere else to eat lunch. I couldn’t believe he did that. His actions made me question what his intentions were because anyone working in food service knows that chicken is one of the worst meats that can be cross contaminated. The experience was upsetting, and I will not be back to this place or recommend anyone else eats here for one of two reasons, a.) the owner had malicious intent and was trying to make me sick or b.)...
