It was my first time visiting this place, and like most, I heard about it from a reviewer on fb. When I arrived there were people inside waiting. I stood in line for about 10 minutes before the young lady jestured to me to take my order. Due to the music playing in the place, I couldn't understand what she was asking me. So, as I proceeded to place my order, the guy in the back decided to interject in the process because the young lady was obviously new, didn't know what she was doing. He has a menu up top, another that states the type of nachos he serves on a lower portion of the glass, another small menu at the window. For a first timer with all the decor, I didn't know the process. And the guy was being a bit rude, which made me consider walking out, but I was hungry, just got off a flight, and wanted to try something new as well as support small black owned business. I ordered the chicken nachos and quesadilla, and I admit that for $26, it was not worth it. The nachos were mostly chips with very little ingredients to dip the chip in, I had more sour cream and bbq sauce than meat or cheese. The quesadilla was ok, though the tortilla was cooked too hard. The food was hot, but the salsa for dipping was too cold. I honestly thought the place was Hispanic or Latino owned, which is why I stayed. But hey, I gave it a try, and there's really no reason to return. The cook should really work on his customer service and maybe train his staff in advance, but when you're in the hood, I guess you can talk to paying customers however you feel. The loss of one customer doesn't matter when you have others. But be careful the restaurant business isn't always what it seems to be, here today,...
Read moreGreat food, friendly service. Just a nice spot for a good lunch.
The nachos and tacos are absolutely stellar. The chips and tortillas are top notch, and all the meat and toppings are plentiful and delicious.
The wings are another home run. Fried nice and crispy, (whole wings!), and very well sauced. The standard buffalo is good, but the Honey Gold sauce is a knockout. Kind of a sweet honey mustard-based sauce.
The burger, however, might be my favorite. It is, in my opinion, a strong contender for best burger in town. It's not a showy stunt burger — just a good ol' diner style, big burger with standard toppings, but an excellent execution of it. If you can't decide what to get, go with the burger. You won't regret it.
Fries are always seasoned and crispy. If you get nachos as a side, you get plenty and the cheese dip is great.
The only thing I've had that I wasn't crazy about was the catfish. It was fine, just not my preferred style of fried catfish.
