SENIORS, MILITARY & TRAVELERS BEWARE!||Arrived at Candlewood Suites in Tupelo, Mississippi on 15 Nov 2024. The location was convenient and near the interstate. We didnât think much of it at the time but did notice some roofing company trucks parked together with several men gathered around in the rear parking area. The receptionist Kayla was very pleasant and the suite we stayed in was nice as well. We learned the laundry area had three washers & dryers which were free to use. This is when our problem began: When planned to do one load of laundry but the same roofing company workers, 4-5 young men were using all three washers and dryers. So we waited and about an hour only to find the same men there but now there were 6-8 men hanging around. My spouse and I are older seniors and I am a disabled veteran and was traveling thru without any means to really protect ourselves other than our dog who loves everybody. There was no security or protection and we noticed more of these men. We asked one of them if we could use one washer. We decided to sit in the already crowded laundry room and wait there. Finally one of them allowed us to use one washer. We started our one load of clothes but when we came back to check on it 15 minutes later we saw someone had unplugged the washing machine.. we asked them politely what the problem was. One guy said âno Englishâ and thats when I let them know, in english, that we didnât want any problems and just wanted to finish our one load of clothes. One of the smaller men plugged the washer back in and we restarted the washer but were still being harassed. Two of these guys actually followed me down toward the hallway to the reception area. They followed me to the front desk and stopped to lean on the wall with their arms folded and starring at me. I spoke to Kayla at the desk. I told her what was occuring. The lobby was empty except for Kayla, myself and the two men. They continued to watch and wait there. At this point I felt quite intimidated and told her what was going on. Kayla then stated the hotel had experienced problems with the same group of men before and that the police had been called for disturbing the other hotel guests and problems with drugs and alcohol. She said she felt uncomfortable as well and seemed a little nervous. After hearing that I told her we werenât comfortable staying there any longer and let her know we were leaving immediately. I asked for my money back and we packed up to leave. It was late in the evening but I tried to place several phone calls from the safety of our vehicle. I spoke to one of their Hotel representatives and told him what was going on. He then transferred me to another lady representative and told her the same thing. I felt like I was wasting my time. I call the GM Porsha Fields number that was given to me at the desk. I left a message and never heard a word back. As we pulled out 4-6 guys began yelling at us in Spanish. We were definitely glad to leave this place. This hotel is completely unsafe. It is now December 10th 2024 AND NOW IT IS May 27 2025 and believe it or not we still havenât received one single callback or message from anyone from this hotel or the hotel chain. If I had the time I would have hired an attorney but we are just glad to be out of there. Iâll never go back there and I hope that people that read this review understand this is absolutely an unsafe place and that this hotel and their chain donât care at all about their guests. Can you imagine nobody took the time or bothered to call or check on us? This place, the management and their company is a disgrace and they should be ashamed. If I could give a zero rating I definitely definitively would!||See...

Read moreWe were given a room that had not been completely serviced.. but it took us a minute to realize it. It was a bad start. We checked in, went out to the truck and grabbed our pillows, the dogs, and dog beds. Neither key would work to get into external doors. We walked around, entered the main entrance and had our keycards re-keyed.
Once in the room, the bed was made and on the surface the room seemed fine. A little warm so we set the A/C and quickly left for dinner. It was getting late and it was Sunday so we rushed out to get some dinner before things were closed. We returned to the room (still warm), checked the A/C. A/C was cold and working but the refrigerator sounded like a frog and wouldn't stop running so it was heating up the room as fast as the A/C could cool it down. It was cool 'enough' and we were so tired from traveling we let it be. My husband turned in, the dogs went to sleep. I sat in the bed to check email and realized the nightstand was sticky. I tried to clean it off with some paper towels but it was gross. I went to throw away the paper towels in the bathroom trash under the sink and saw it had trash in it from a previous guest. I became suspicious. I looked around the room, the coffee maker was on top of the cabinets, glanced toward the shower and there was a bath mat and hand towel neatly on the towel bar so let it go. I went down to the front desk told her about the cleanliness and asked for a rag and some cleaner. She gave me these things and said to please return them. I cleaned the nightstand and returned the items. I settled in to read email then went in to brush my teeth and wash my makeup off for bed. I closed the door and saw there were zero towels on the shelves. I called down to let the front desk know and ask for some towels. I could get dressed and go down to get some if I wanted, but she couldn't bring some because she was the only employee on duty. She could also move me to another room if I wanted. I said yes until I realized she meant 'I' could move me to another room. And by the way, all of the luggage carts are broken and unusable. Rather than wake everyone up to move rooms late at night or get redressed (again) to go down and get towels, I washed up using paper towels. We slept on top of the bed on our blanket using our own pillows. In the morning we skipped the shower and got out of there as fast as we could. I secretly hoped once employees showed up that someone would bring us towels but that didn't happen. I stopped at the desk on our way out and explained that I didn't want to pay for our stay. She said she didn't know what to do and that the manager wouldn't be in until around 9am, but she would have her call me when she got it. We left. Later I saw a missed call and returned it, it was from the Hotel. I told them I'd been expecting a call and told her our story. Ultimately they offered to comp our room minus the pet fee. I said that sounded fair, and that's what...
