Huckleberry's Breakfast & Lunch — Restaurant in Turlock

This is my hubby's and I 5th or 6th visit. We usually come here for breakfast, but today we came for lunch because hubby wanted to try the fish & chips. He absolutely loves the Fish & Chips here. They use fresh fish, not a frozen block dropped in oil. The fish had a delicious light batter. I had the chicken and waffles for the fist time and I was very impressed. The chicken also had a deliciously seasoned, light batter and a perfect crispiness. The waffle was a good size, and was nice and fluffy. The meals here are very filling, not skimpy at all. This is our new breakfast place and hubby's go to Fish & Chips place. The food is great. The staff is very friendly and the service is awesome. We actually requested to be seated in Ingrids area. Food was not good. I had Hearty vegetables soup and salad. Salad was not fresh it had purple lettuce that was slimey here and there. Lettuce had brown ends. We were early in the day so I can only ask it was from the day before.Soup was like marinara watered down and veggies,well the carrots were spongy ( frozen I am sure) and celery chunks ( fresh ) but dominated the soup, some diced tomatoes, cauliflower and that's was it. No seasoning I added salt and pepper. So I sent back for chili, it better but it was canned and also lacked salt. Service was fine. MY daughter had cold pancakes and they forgot her fruit and charged us, Removed item after we complained. 2 out of 4 meals were edible I stopped at McDonald's after so I could eat. I wouldn't go again, I'd rather spend 70 bucks...

Stopped for breakfast. I started with a mug of hot chocolate while my partner had coffee. The only possible fans that they could have for the hot chocolate must be kids because it comes with a solid inch of really thick cream. And, I mean REAL thick! I am NOT a fan. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled with sausage (they are links vs patties). There are no items listed a la carte, but they are available. The food was typical breakfast fare. My partner ordered 2 slices of French toast with bacon. It was a good thing he only got two slices of toast as those took up the entire platter! The 2 slices of bacon looked rather pitiful on a platter all by themselves, but they were edible.

Overall, it's okay....
