La Gran Fiesta Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

I live close to this restaurant so I decided to give it a try for my first time. I ordered for my fiance and myself for a Friday supper date after a long day at work. So I get home and me and my girl start eating. The chimichanga and burrito plate wasn't bad at all. After we both had a few bites of our supper we went for our chips and cheese dip. So far everything was decent until my fiance spotted a roach in the chip bag while I was holding it. I automatically squeezed the bag shut and got my phone to take a picture. When I called the restaurant and the hostess told me to send her the pictures and he would call me asap. So the next day, today, I messaged her phone asking if there was a reason he never returned my call? So he calls me about 30 minutes later. He says they spray 2 times a month but couldn't give me their name. I didn't call for a free meal, I called for principal. His words was extremely few without remorse and assured me that they don't have any bugs . So when I asked why they spray twice a month for bugs they don't have his reply was " have a good day " and hung up. I do not know this managers name nor is it important. He's rude and without any remorse so 5/20/22 is the first time I've ever left a bad review. Look at the pictures and reviews before you eat here. My next call will be to the health department. Customers were clogging up the entrance to pay on their way out. A waiter came along right away and seated me. Social distancing was demonstrated by the distance between tables, the minute the customer left, that table was cleaned and ready for the next customer. The entire staff wore masks at all times. The basket of chips was brought immediately with the salsa and they were warm. He also took my drink order and had my appetizer on the table within a couple of minutes. My food was delivered before I had even finished with it. I spent an hour in this place from around 1 on a Sunday and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The other tables were seated and served quickly too. The waiters kept a constant check with their eyes without hovering to make sure you didn't require anything else. Food is good but the service is mediocre. The servers seem to cater to white people. On 4 occasions I was seated and after I ordered my drink the server went on to serve two other tables that were seated after me. They took their drink and food order. Ive been coming here for years.... I guess its a change in time. I hate this because I am a 20% tipper even if you're just decent. Update... 4/6/19 Again.. This place has the sorriest wait staff... I'm posting this comment and only here because my mother was so eager to come. This will be our last time here.
