OEC Japanese Express Sushi & Hibachi (McFarland Blvd) — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

I believe this is a sister location to the OEC I visited in my undergraduate days at Mississippi State. Their menus are basically the same and the concept is the same: fast, cheap Japanese takeout, mainly hibachi and sushi. To be honest, this place is closer to a 3.5 for me, but the overall experience doesn't seem quite good enough for me to round up to a 4.

Being that I'm not a sushi eater, I always go for the hibachi. My boyfriend had steak and chicken, and I had the veggie. The veggie dinner consisted of broccoli, cucumbers, onion, and mushrooms. All hibachi dinners come with a side of sweet and tender carrots. The fried rice is tasty and plentiful.

The food comes out relatively quickly, it's mostly cheap eating (except they charge for extra pink sauce for carry out orders), and the taste is pretty good. It's worth a try if you're in a hurry or want some...

I ordered the vegetable dinner and it was so spicy. It was in edible I asked the server was it supposed to be spicy? He said no well I said well it is it’s burning my tongue I could not eat it. I’ve been sitting here for 20 minutes after reporting it to him with no results apparently they don’t care. It’s the sort of establishment I guess that one person can’t make a difference, but as it was my first time here I won’t be back if I want spicy food I need to know ahead of time because I have problems with an ulcer didn’t order it intending it to be spicy so I can’t tell you if the food was good or not because it was so spicy, and again, they’ve done nothing about it have not...

This is probably the best sushi you can get for this price. I've tried the crunch crab roll, the spicy crab roll and the shrimp tempura roll. I was slightly reserved about coming here given the cheap prices, but the food was good and I have no real complaints. I gave this review 5 stars because of the quality to price ratio. This is definitely a convenience restaurant great for people on a budget who want sushi. The sushi is cheap, but good. My only complaint is that the place is tiny.
