Last night, May 19, 2025, my husband, daughter, 9 month old baby boy, mom, and dad arrived about 6:00pm at The Juicy Crab Tuscaloosa to celebrate my husband's birthday . We ordered our food, sat, ate, and enjoyed the food as usual. Our waitress, Kayleigh(Kaleigh, however you spell it), brought us our tickets. My husband noticed that our ticket was significantly higher than usual considering we always order the same thing. I take a look at the ticket and realized Kaleigh has charged us gratuity of $13. We only ordered 5 meals. Once again, my baby boy is 9 months old with no teeth and only ate the inside of about 5 fries from his dad's plate which prob only equal up to 1 or 2 fries. Anyway, so I asked Kayleigh very nicely and in a polite manner to remove the gratuity from my ticket because we will leave our own cash tip, besides, my baby boy didn't really count when we didn't order him anything neither did she have to serve him in any way. She says that gratuity can not come off. James, the manager, come. I explained to him the same as above. He respond saying he will pull the camera and if 6 people ate then the gratuity cant come off.You mean to tell me that just because my 9 month old baby ate the inside of a few fries this is your reasoning for not removing the gratuity. I asked him for his supervisor. Alisha, the general manager. I explained to her the same She says bout pulling cameras. My husband asked Alisha why they why charge us gratuity based on my 9 month old son eating the inside of a few fries from his plate that he is paying for.Alisha gets sassy with my husband. But at this point, I told her that since they can't remove the gratuity, that we are just going to give her the $72.05 cash that I meal cost. Kayleigh walked up and was going back and forth arguing with my husband. I told Kayleigh that we are not about to do this going back and forth. I told her what we were going to do which was give her the money to pay for our food so we can get out of there and she continues to go back and forth arguing. I said what I said and I meant what I said when I said it and that was to pay for our food and leave the place. But these two disrespectful ladies wanted a fight. It got so bad that I had to stand up from my seat, put my "stop" hand up, and tell her to shut up talking to us because we are not going to do this going back and forth meanwhile trying to keep my husband calm because by now she has totally pissed him off being disrespectful. This went on for several minutes at which at some point Alisha had left, but returned when she heard the commotion of Kayleigh talking sassy to my husband. I told Alisha to get her worker and shut up talking to us because she is making bad matters worse with her smart mouth I gathered the $72.05 cash and gave it to one of them. It was so much going on I don't even remember if I gave the money to Alisha or Kayleigh. After giving them the money they both left. We were gathering our leftovers and our belongings to leave when Kayleigh came back out and with an attitude gave me the $72.05 back. I asked her, what is this for(because I gave the exact amount and wasn't due any change)? With a sassy tone, Kayleigh said, "she just told me to give it back to you" and she walked off. I said thank you as she was walking away. We grabbed our stuff and we left. After we got outside and walking to our car I noticed James was standing on the curb I guess to make sure we left. But let me tell you something, you don't have to worry about my family. We don't go around looking for trouble but somehow trouble found us at one of our favorite restaurants. I asked nicely to be treated disrespectfully. Myself, my husband and family will not visit here anymore and will let our loved ones know how were treated last night. We come here3-4/month, not anymore This did not have to go down like this. Kayleigh and Alisha is totally disrespectful and should not be serving the public. Including James, they are so wrong and inconsiderate of a 9 month old baby and my family...
Read moreLet me start by say "Whew chile this was alot…" On 8/1/2020 I visited the location off McFarland Blvd in Tuscaloosa, AL. We were seated outside promptly after a 20 minute wait. Prior to arriving at our table the table was not sanitized. We waited...We waited, a waiter approached and said he would be bringing paper to cover the table. ( It appeared that it was past practice to put down paper versus sanitizing the table after guest.) 20 minutes later the waiter returns...(yes the first time he returned after being seated) to explain his manager stated that although every table was covered in the restaurant she directed our table not to be covered because it was "new". Let us not forget there is an entire epidemic happing world wide during this visit. Again, our table was not sanitized!! We summoned an assistant manager who said he could not help us, but had to talk to the head manager, who could not be found. Finally after another 10 minutes of waiting, I left my seat and went to the front of the restaurant and requested to speak to the head manager. Another assistant manager approached and a few minutes behind him was the head manager whom made the decision. I expressed to her my concern about the table, waiting 30 minutes to get a drink order and the fact that an hour had gone by and no one had returned to the table to take the order. She admitted that she told our server not to put paper down because she did not like to clean up paper on her new furniture. I expressed either way it was unsanitary and I would be reporting it to the health department. She expressed frustration with the server and said that she would discount our meal and request a new server for our table. A woman came over and introduced herself as our new server but we never saw her again. We had the same lack luster server who brought us our meal and a check which was not discounted. The food was brought out at different times and one person in our party waited until the end to get his food. This resulted in him taking his food to go because his chicken wings took so long to come. I mentioned the discount to the server and he offered us the 15 percent discount the same discount offered to employees. We never saw the manger again. She did not follow up to make sure everything was ok. In the end, I was disgusted at the lack of customer service, management and total disregard of the world pandemic. In my opinion if this location is not equipped to be open it should close until you get it together. This was a management issue. No one should have suffer through a two and half hour poor dining experience. As I told the manager, if it weren't so late and so much time hadn't passed we would have dined elsewhere. Due to the Covid pandemic that was prevalent everywhere else outside of the Juicy Crab, most restaurant closed early and we didn't have the option. If I were a time traveler, I would tell my past self to go...
Read moreI could give ZERO stars. Ordered my food ON THEIR WEBSITE but wanted to dine-in due to having to catch a flight. When I first arrived, the young lady was outside smoking her vape recording herself while my husband and I waited at the front. As I was approaching to go get her, she then came-in then immediately proceeded to inform us that she is not a cashier. I explained I just wanted to get my food. Before I just went and sat down to eat, I let her know I’d be dining in. She then says that according to their policy if you order TAKE OUT you can not dine in.
My husband and I only placed the order online due to my flight but was going to order cocktails as well. The young FaceTimes the manager, manager standing firm on I can not eat there. After trying to figure out where I’m going to eat my food, I went back inside and saw the manager. She was nice but the reasoning did not seem valid as she states “people order their food online and want to dine in and we still have to clean the table and they don’t tip. Most restaurants have the same policy”. I tried explaining my flight and the fact we were ordering drinks, and some old man interrupted and told her to just refund us our money.
AFTER refunding the money she states we can go sit at the bar and since the food is already made then we just have to pay for everything over again. NOTHING ABOUT THIS MAKES SENSE. The food was order through their website, from their restaurant, and I wanted to enjoy my food SITTING DOWN WHERE I PURCHASED MY FOOD FROM. I’d like to also state that the establishment was EMPTY, only customers present were myself, my husband, and maybe 4 other people.
Where was I suppose to eat my food? My husband and I tip everywhere we go generously, so if a tip was truly a concern it should’ve been expressed and the young lady could have received her blessing on the spot. I order my food ahead and eat inside very often as I’m impatient when it comes to waiting for food. Even after explaining the policy, she flips through several postings taped to the register to show me the policy.
I’ve been to this establishment many times and was just literally trying to visit one of my fav spots before going back Texas. This is beyond disappointing and utterly frustrating. Many blessings to them but they’ve lost a...
