Today I tried this place for the first time. I ordered 2 different sandwiches for my husband and I. Both sandwiches were drenched to the max with a creamy sauce (I believe their "dirty sauce"). Both sandwiches were wet and messy sandwiches, and the only thing I was able to taste when I bit into them was sauce, sauce, and more sauce - it was pretty gross. I couldn't eat the sandwiches after my first 2 bites, so it was a waste of $40+ dollars. The bread, onions and tomatoes (although buried in sauce) appeared fresh, but the turkey and chicken quality is questionable. The two cookies we bought (Sweet Street cookies) were very hard with no expiration date on the wrapper, so freshness was questionable. In sum, I will not be ordering food from this place again. However, for anyone who wants to give this place a try, I recommend ordering the sandwiches with the sauce...
Read morePains me to give such a low review since I was going to the original Ikes in SF years ago. But they have become a chain since and it shows. Some of the staple sandwiches that made the place great, are gone #BringBackThePapaSam! Anyways, I digress. I got the halal chicken sandwich with avocado. I could immediately feel that they went light on the signature sauce (another staple that has now been down-played). There was one girl qork the whole place, which was empty, and she didn't want to be there. Now I'm not knocking a teen for not being overly enthusiastic about making sub sandwiches, but if you'd ever been to the original ikes, you'd know it was a fun place to work where people were cooky, laughing, and having fun. Today, at least this location, looked like a dying...
Read moreI saw a video from Wreckless Eating and the sandwich looked amazing. I had to try it for myself.
I had the Tony Soprano which is basically an Italian sandwich. It was served toasted. After eating this sandwich I would put Ike's at the top of my list for a sandwich place My sandwich was delicious. The only bad thing was they aren't offering fountain drinks. Other places sell fountain drinks so why can't Ike's. Can soda sucks. Well anyway I will definitely be back either here or one of their other locations.
