I visited this Mexican spot for our weekly lunch. It's tucked away in the corner of Newport Plaza, with free parking available. The restaurant is small and takeout-style, though there’s some seating at the back if you prefer to dine in. The service was fast, and the staff were friendly. We tried the chimichanga, taco, and wet burrito. The chimichanga was huge, and we opted for steak as the protein—it was flavorful and well-cooked. The wet burrito was also tasty, with a generous portion of meat, making for a very satisfying meal. The tacos were good, though the portion of meat was a bit on the smaller side. They also have a fresh salsa bar with some good sides, which added a nice touch to the meal. Overall, if you’re looking for a filling Mexican meal, this place is worth a visit—especially for their chimichanga!

I had a real bad experience in this place,I order a machaca plate and the salsa they use was spoiled. I do not like to return food because of the stories I've heard when people returs food, I just don't go come back and that is it. Then there not tables inside this place, tables are outside they bring your food out there was a lot of flies that I had to be "shoo Flys Don't Bother Me"all the time I was there, the reason we stop here is because of the name Tacos al Carbon but not was far from it.The owner should invest in some nice fly traps seriously is very uncomfortable seen flys around when people is eating. I'm just saying.

4.5 stars but rounded up for service. They have a lunch special everyday. Quality is consistent and great and their salsa bar is legit. Owners are super nice, bilingual and very hard working. Workers are great too. They have a few indoor seats and a covered patio outside. Parking is ample but they r busy so u may have to get ur steps in during lunch rush. I love their quesadillas and they have cherry coke. Not a lot of restaurants have cherry coke but orange bang, pina colada and horchata baby. I stop by here whenever I’m in the area, usually after stopping by Roger dunn.

So, in looking for a new "hard shell" taco spot, this came up on my search. As I was looking over the entry, the menu, and directions, I saw the first comment which said, "possibly the best tacos in the OC," so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The establishment is nothing to brag about. It's antiquated and a little run down, but it's clean and there's plenty of seating if you not doing take-out.

The staff, what can I say, they were so friendly and helpful and treated us like we've been patrons for years. This treatment alone would have been enough for a second visit.

The food: I wanted have shell tacos and so I got 1 Asada, 1 shredded chicken, 1 carnitas and 1 Al Pastor. Since I luv enchiladas I also ordered a single shredded beef with green sauce.

I must say that the review that led me here was spot on. The tacos were delicious, end of story. The chicken was a little dry, but some salsa and hot sauce corrected this issue. I will be returning next Tuesday without a doubt. For me, an enchilada is one of those menu items that is a standard for a Mexican restaurant. Either its proper or it fails in some fashion and this is also reflected in other dishes. In this instance, the enchiladas was perfect. The corn tortilla remained firm, the sauce was the perfect consistency and flavor, and the cheese topping and meat filling were exactly right.

The other two things that stood out to both me and my daughter was that the price is proper and the speed which everything was prepared. I just completed getting salsa and hot sauce into containers when our order was ready. If you have not checked out the Original Taco Factor then you should certain put it on you list of...

This place is frickin’ sublime. The veggie tacos and burritos have all the classic fillings you want and nothing you don’t, and they’re HUGE for the price. Great rice and beans - the staple of vegetarian Mexican food. I can’t speak for the meat but my boyfriend was very pleased with his meaty tacos, which were also massive. We both ended up making two tacos out of one, since they come double-wrapped (the way god intended) and are so over-stuffed with fillings you either have to split them up or knife and fork it. The salsa bar makes this an extra great deal - love the fact that you can dress your tacos yourself and have plenty of topping options. Three different kinds of onions! Are you kidding me?! Can’t overemphasize how reasonable - dare I say, cheap - the prices are here for what you get.

The employees are so sweet and friendly. Also love the fact they have foam cups for drinks - my apologies to the environment, but every soda nut knows foam cups are the gold standard for keeping your sodie fresh, cold, and not watered down. Not to mention the free refills on the Horchata/Orange Whip machine. In high school we used to come here and suck down gallons of horchata while hanging out on the patio - great to see that over 20 years later this place hasn’t changed. A true Orange County Mexican food gem. Protect this place...

I wish I still lived in the vicinity of this place as it is one of the best Mexican take-out places I have ever been. The owner is really nice and she has a daily breakfast and lunch special which is what I usually get. Sometimes (lunch) is two tacos with rice and beans and a drink or, on other days, a wet burrito or, one taco and enchilada. The customer has a choice of black or, pinto beans with any menu item that has beans. What was amazing is the fresh condiment bar which had pickled jalapenos, onions and carrots, fresh sliced radishes, limes, lemons shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, pico de gallo, chopped cilantro chopped white and green onion and at least four different kinds of salsa. But, sadly, COVID has killed it BUT you can still get all of those things it's just you have to ask for it : ) I also like that every menu item includes some of their freshly-fried tortilla chips. I enjoy ordering and eating in the shaded patio area. I always make it a point to stop here when I...
