I was driving through 29 palms. It has changed a lot since I was here last 40 years ago. This little Thai restaurant, I was hoping would be good. Here is what I got: The server was nice enough, but did minimum possible. As to the food, I ordered Tom Kah with fresh tofu and four star. And I ordered Pad Thai with fried tofu and four star. The star ratings are for spiciness I also ordered a Thai iced tea with real coconut milk, but was informed they could not do it because they didn't have coconut milk. Which then she said "oh but we have canned coconut milk.". Which honestly, I understand is the only type we get stateside. Was unable for unwilling to make me a Thai iced tea with coconut milk instead of half and half. First, let's review the Tom Kah: Lacking in coconut milk, very salty. I had a hard time finding any basil in it at all, although there was parsley or honestly I think it was probably cilantro. The pad Thai was somewhat flavorless, and overcooked. The Pad Thai had almost no spice. The Tom Kah was spicy enough but difficult to eat due to over salting. I really want people to know, I'm not trying to be petty about this place. I'm just trying to give an honest with you. I also had green tea when I could not get Thai iced tea with coconut milk. Green tea, was very weak. The cup they gave me with it was dirty, and there was a small dead insect in the bottom of it. Again, I'm really not trying to be petty. I just expect more if you're going to have me establishment and serve people. I do not think I would stop here again. Well that's my review.

We dined at many Thai Restaurant. In fact, it's one of our favorite types of food. We have dined at the restaurant several times before during our visits to Twentynine Palms, California. The food is delicious, I will admit it, and the service is always great. This last dining experience was a little different. It's understandable that all restaurants need to be cleaned thoroughly. However, during our dining experience, the only thing I could smell was the cleaning agent they used. I could actually smell it once I opened the restaurant doors. It almost detered me from going in. That was the only negative. Their food is great and always delicious. The Chicken Satay was flavorful and was probably larger than most chicken satay we have had. The yellow curry was great and was very flavorful. They don't skimp on the chicken. The Mix Veggie with chicken was also delicious. The Mango and sticky rice was a fantastic ending to a delicious meal. The service has always been great when we dine here.

2024 March: updating to 4stars. Went back again because I heard the food was better. Indeed! I shared my first bad experience & they made sure my 2nd & 3rd experiences were much better. I’ll return again & I DO recommend. 2022 August. First time visiting. Went on a quiet Thursday night around 7pm. We ordered the chicken skewers, shrimp pad Thai, beef drunken noodles and the sweet shrimp vegetable. What I dislike the most (the reason for the 2 stars) is the quality of food and portion size. The pad Thai had 4 pieces of shrimp in it. My kiddo was like where’s the rest of the shrimp? I wondered the same thing. For $16 I don’t think it’s worth it. Also the beef in my drunken noodle tasted stale and had that taste of freezer burn. On a positive note their customer service was good. I won’t return but I’ll recommend for anyone visiting for the 1st time.

I have done both dine in and take out. In both instances the customer service was terrible, yes, terrible. Meaning beyond bad, is was spectacularly inept with a sprinkling of rudeness about the ineptitude.

My most recent visit was put in for take out and I was told it would be ready in 40 minutes (620 for those keeping track) I arrive at the time they indicated and they say 20 more minutes. I take stuff home and come back 20 minutes later and they say it’ll take “a while” longer and get testy when I request a minute estimate (again 20). I sit and chat with other customers who warn me that this place is notoriously bad but it’s late and we were all too lazy to make our own curry, so, what are ya gonna do? As I’m waiting my 20 minutes, other customers are getting their orders and one lady was given the wrong take out order twice, no apology, a young man got the wrong protein (meat instead of the tofu he requested) and so on and so forth. After another 20 minutes I inquire again and am again given a testy, “20 more minutes.” At this point my wife calls the restaurant to check in and is told “it’s a family run restaurant and we are busy, so it is what it is,” before they hang up on her.

After my next 20 minute set is over, I again inquire and I’m told it’s not ready. I let them know it’s now been an hour and forty minutes since the order was placed and the young lady went to check in the kitchen. The kitchen reported they didn’t realize it was after 620 (it was now 720) and it’s going to be… well you get the idea.

If I could give zero stars I wouldn’t, the food deserves a star. I mean the portions are small and it’s overpriced but it’s also really tasty. But not tasty enough to outweigh the horrible service and get business from me...

I recently ate here fir the first time for dinner when my father and I were staying locally for a geology class at the Desert Institute. I was craving Thai food and am so excited we found this place! EVERYTHING we had was amazing and it's a good thing I don't live locally or I swear I would come here at least once a week. We started with the lemon grass soup with shrimp and this was the freshest, best tasting soup I think I've ever had. The flavor was so good and very unique, almost a balance of sweet and sour. Hard to describe. I just loved every spoonful and was so sad when I finished it all. Next we had their yellow chicken curry and mixed vegetable stir fry. I love yellow curry dishes and am very picky about how it tastes. The flavors of this one were entirely spot on. It was just delicious. It is listed as not spicy but it definitely has a spice kick to it, which is fine with me, but if anyone in your party is opposed to spicy, you may want to ask them if they can tone it down, I don't know if they can do this. For us though the spice level was wonderful. The vegetable stir fry was the best I've had in an Asian restaurant. Too often a vegetable stir fry has this weird, gelatin like coating or sauce and I never like that. This one didn't, it was just really fresh veggies cooked with wonderful seasonings and herbs. Our whole dinner was just perfect and we were so hungry I didn't think to take pictures. The restaurant is also nicer inside than it sounds. This would be totally appropriate for a date night, they serve wine and everything. I can't wait to return next time I am in town!!! Servers were also friendly and attentive, they made us feel...

I regret to say that my experience at this establishment warrants a one-star review, with specific emphasis on the service – or lack thereof. Despite being a Friday evening with only half the place occupied, and a mere five tables seated, the service was astonishingly poor. There was one server at the cashier who also took orders from customers that seated themselves, and one Bus Boy.

Our ordeal began when the server finally attended to us 15 minutes after we arrived, as we were unable to place our order at the cashier. She took an order for 2 Pad Thais and wontons as an appetizer. However, after waiting for 30 minutes, the Bus Boy brought just ONE Pad Thai to our table. In a baffling turn of events, we decided to start eating the solitary dish while still awaiting our appetizer and the second Pad Thai.

As more customers poured in, and the place neared full capacity, there was still no sign of the server, who was perpetually occupied at the cash register and handling To-Go orders. Meanwhile, the Bus Boy scurried around delivering random food to other patrons.

This was undeniably one of the worst dining experiences I've had. If there is a shortage of staff, it is essential to inform customers upon entry, stating that the waiting time for food is approximately 1 hour. Instead, there was a conspicuous absence of communication, leading to a prolonged and frustrating wait for our order. After enduring 40-50 minutes of this ordeal, we decided to cut our losses, left a partial payment for the one Pad Thai under the plate, and departed. I have no intention of returning to this establishment based on this exceptionally poor and...
