Four Point Five is my true rating. I have been a patron to this location for about 6 years. When the turn over in Ownership took place, I noticed things were slightly different. Today's visit was the first for me in over a year. Odd considering I live practically across the street. My reasoning being is the time it has taken in the past to get an order for one person was extremely too long. Waiting 25 mins. for a to go order of a single sandwich was absurd. My second reason is that I didn't understand all the mixing of Steak an Cheese on the Grill. I watched as the Cook made the sandwiches, I knew who arrived following me. As other received their orders, I knew when mine was finally being made.... I stood up, and waited and waited as the Cook kept mixing the steak and cheese. I never! Well about 5-6 mins after standing, my sandwich was finally wrapped. I saw it set back on the table. After 2-3 minutes I asked the Cashier if they would check and see if it was mine. It was. I looked at the time on my phone again. 26 mins. If I had needed to return to my Job, I would have been made late and not even had a chance to eat. So today I thought give them another chance. Well the prices have rose by a Dollar, understandable with today's new meat costs. The Sandwiches are not inexpensive, 4 Star prices from a take out establishment. I requested that the Cheese be placed atop of the meat and allowed to melt down. This is how I understand a Cheese Steak to be made as I have eaten them for over 50 years. Original Steaks does it their own way. They did honor my request. See photos. Why I didn't rate a full 5 is that the place needs a bit of Cleaning. The Floor looks terrible. Soiled spots from drips. It was 11:55 am, there was dried orange something by the beverage dispenser on one side, and drippings of brown beverage also dried on the other side. I was once the Proprietor of Quality Kare Service, a full service cleaning contractor, who employed 34 people. I think I can spot dirt and souls really well. I do hope the owners, (which I have met in the past) take notice of my posting here, and address this with their staff. Time to lean, you have time to clean. Take heed, or I won't be returning. BTW My reviews have nearly 280,000 views, and my photos have nearly 3 million views. So others do read them! Thank you. Food was as expected adequate. A little seasoning of the meat with simple salt and pepper would really make things tastier. Salting fries would...
Read moreI went to this philly cheesesteak place on the recommendation of several friends. The words best cheesesteak and delicious were stated several times. I love myself a philly cheesesteak and was amped up for one made by an native Philadelphian.
The store is small and sparsely decorated with Philadelphia themed memorabilia. The menu is suprisingly diverse for a small restaurant. I ordered "The Original" with provolone, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. My wife had a "Cheesesteak" aka meat and cheese only (she chose provolone). I added cajun fries as a side.
After ordering I slowly regretted my choice to eat at this place. The kitchen staff several times yelled loudly at one another and were very disorganized. The girl taking orders seemed overwhelmed and lost. I waited for exactly 37 minutes for my food to arrive. I was able to figure this out from the pictures I took and their data. No explanation, no apology, and no offer to fix anything.
The cheesesteaks were hot but fries were ice cold and covered in a white greasy sauce with no flavor. For a place that prides itself on cheesesteaks, these were among the worst I have ever had. Very greasy, an imperceptibly small amount of cheese, but they did have good bread/amount of mushroom/pepper/onion. I'm not sure if this was a bad night or just a sign of a poorly run restaurant. I cannot fathom calling the end product I received a philly cheesesteak, its insulting.
Overall I could not recommend eating here. 2 people cost $24 and they had the gall to beg for tips...
Read moreI came here for the 1st time in a long time last week. The food was just as good as it ever was, but the rest of the experience was absolutely horrific. I called while driving in from Bedford, was put on hold, and literally kept on hold from Broadway&271 all the way till when I walked in the door. then I realized that there were only 2 people working in the entire place. They usually have at least 5 or 6. the 2 guys were working very hard so I wasn't upset with them, but 2 people working during lunch??!! Come on.... The wait time was over 30 minutes!! While I was waiting for my food I was taking a peak through the window into the kitchen and I was absolutely disgusted. The kitchen was grotesque mess with food thrown every where, trash and drops of food literally all over the floor, overflowing garbage cans, etc... And the cook was grabbing CHICKEN from a tupperware container that was just sitting on top of a table, not in a cooler or at least sitting on ice. The part of the restaurant that is supposed to be the cleanest was a health inspectors worst nightmare. I will NEVER...
