I know, by above 4-star individual ranking why a 3-star total? read below the food review. the food was really good. they evidently have a cook that understands how to make scrambled eggs with cheese that is moist. the hash browns were cooked just like Mama used to make. My pancakes were light and moist. they bring out warm syrup with the pancakes, which was one of the best tasting syrups I have had in a long time. I should have asked the brand. my wife had an omelet which was cooked really well. good timing on removing from grill. because of the French toast, I ended up with half the omelet, which I did not mind at all. there was a really good amount of meat and vegetables in the omelet. the French toast according to my wife, was good as well. she ended up leaving slices of the three. the waitress was certainly an interesting young lady. when you speak to her she knows all of the right words to say but has none of the enthusiasm (I knew of no other word) you'd expect. "How are you?" I ask. "awesome" is what she said but her expression and tone reminded me of Ben Stein playing the teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, who kept calling out "Bueller, Bueller." she was also dead-pan with "perfect" and "wonderful".
One thing that was a real bummer was watching another waitress with a pony tail grab, pull on it, and then fling it up in the air while she was talking to some seated regulars. she did this three times! Restaurant = don't touch or play with hair in the middle of the restaurant! "how is you breakfast? what I took off stars... Cost/overcharged. My wife and I went for breakfast the other day, and our breakfast with tip ended up at $54. part of the reason is I did not dispute the check, which I should have done. the errors were the addition of 2 items in my wife's omelet, which she did not order that added 3.50 to the check. my wife did order a side of French toast and the girl brought her six slices, which she was charged a complete French toast breakfast, three slices of toast which rand 9.99. all she wanted was a side, not the full breakfast. once again, I did not dispute anything and even paid a tip on the extra costs as well. My lower back was really hurting, and I had no desire to bring up anything at this point. I just wanted to get out and get home. I mean, I was at an 8of10 by now. I just made the executive decision to pay it. again, the stars were removed as we were overcharged in the...
Read moreI've been to The Diner twice and neither experience was good. The first time service was slow and food was mediocre. Having read reviews and hearing people rave about the place we decided to try again, maybe the first was a fluke. Not so much.
Yesterday (Saturday. Breakfast time.) We waited 30 minutes for a table (expected and no big deal) After we were sat we waited 20 minutes for our server to take our drink orders. While we waited 3 other tables were sat near us. After bringing our drink orders the waitress took off and didn't take our food orders for another 10 minutes. One of our party ordered Crab cake benedict with etoufee sauce. The waitress said she didn't know what that was. After explaining it she disappeared again. While we waited we watched the 3 other tables seated after us order, get their food, finish, pay and leave. When our food finally came out it was all cold and 3 out of 4 meals were wrong or had wrong elements. My husband ordered migas, the menu says it comes with fried eggs. Without asking him the waitress ordered him soft poached eggs. He does not like runny yolks and didn't touch his eggs. One other in our party ordered a short stack and got 1 pancake. Another ordered pancakes with strawberries and bananas that came out with no toppings. 3 of us had hash browns that were completely inedible. The outside tasted like scorched oil and was burnt while the inside was completely raw (crunchy raw potao raw)
The waitress came to check on us and I mentioned that the food was not good, to which she got a manager. He did apologize and removed 1 meal from the ticket. Then we waited another 30 minutes for the check while the waitress stood looking at us. When we finally asked for the check she said she thought the manager was taking care of it, but didn't bother to check with us or him.
I will say if it would have been hot the eggs benedict would have been delicious. The taste was spot on.
Overall I've only had negative experiences with The Diner and don't plan to...
Read moreA little frustrated. Called Wednesday to reserve a table for 12 people at 10am on Saturday. They told me they don’t do early reservations but the girl would write it down and tell the manager. Okay. So I call on Saturday with no answer after 5 attempts. Finally I get an answer on the 6th attempt at 9am. I reserve for 12 people at 10am. I get confirmation. I arrive at 9:40. Let the host know I’m there. Our entire party arrives by 10:05. I let the manager, who is hosting, know we are all here. They keep delaying us and delaying us and delaying us until finally at 10:40 we get seated. At 2 different tables. I can’t tell you how bummed everyone was. We had to split 6 & 6 and couldn’t all sit together and commune. This was a huge disappointment after all the attempts I tried. All the effort I put in. To be 40 min late and then not all get seated together. Next, it took an hour to get food. Our food for both tables didn’t get delivered until 11:40. At 11:30 we finally told the manager we were going to leave. We would pay for our beverages but the wait had gotten ridiculous. She told us it was coming out any second. But that’s what we had been told for the past 30 min prior. We have them 10 more min, and that’s when finally the food came out an hour after being seated.
The only thing I can say, is the food was good. We spoke with the manager but despite all our efforts, the experience just kept getting worse.
Good is good, but all in all, if you want a big party… I don’t...
