Pretty terrible experience overall. It was a beautiful night, so we sat outside. The inside & bar was pretty much empty. We ordered two Manhattans at the bar waiting for one more party. They were extremely sweet, more like a Shirley temple. Table service was very slow. It took about 15 mins to get the first round of drinks. It was downhill from there. Ordered two Stoli dirty martinis on the rocks. They came out neat and disgusting. Overly dirty to the point they were undrinkable. Had they been ok, we would have overlooked the fact they werenāt on the rocks. We sent them back. 10 mins later, they came out again, neat. They were sent back again. Third time is a charm. They were served with olive juice on the side because they canāt make a dirty martini. Swicthed to wine. Canāt screw that up. The food was rather good as compared to the service. Steak and Grouper were nicely prepared. The sides were smaller than expected, but good. There were a lot of excuses and apologizing for the slow service. The kicker was the bill. Soli Dirty Martini ā They served Stoli Elite instead of Stoli which is twice the price. + $2.00 charge for olives and $3.00 charge for ice for each. My wife asked for dressing for her Caesar salad, $1.50. Ordered Frangelico with our coffee, $3.00 added for neat pour. All in all, over $20.00 in additional charges for ridiculous add ons. When the manager was confronted, he explained everyone does that. My wife and I have traveled a lot for both business & personal purposes over the last few decades. We dined at many of the finest restaurants this country has to offer in about 35 states. I have only seen these up charges In Miami Florida about 20 years ago. That place went out of business 19 years ago. To say the least, locally, Eddy Vās, Capital Grille, Flemmings, and Mortonās donāt practice these dishonest upcharges. We will never dine at American Prime in Tysons again. Ever. Advice, check your...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePrime rib is not often a truly special entree. I mean, there is prime rib, and there is good prime rib. At American Prime, that cut is elevated to a whole different tier - it really is something spectacular. Picture a large thick slice of a perfectly smoked, moist and tender brisket, and you might get a sense of what to expect from the prime rib at American Prime. In addition to the prime rib, there are a number of things that make American Prime stand out as a particularly noteworthy new addition to the dining scene in Tyson's - great location right off the Toll Road's Spring Hill Road exit, modern decor, outdoor seating, in-house smoking and curing of their meats and cheeses, and a private cigar bar. But the main focus is the food. During the soft opening when I had dinner, we enjoyed the charcuterie for which we chose prosciutto, assorted sausages, and a cheese whose name I don't remember (!). Those selections were joined by whole grain mustard, greens, and fresh fruit. It was all good. The crab soup is a nice blend of the best vegetable soup you can imagine and a healthy portion of very fresh crab meat. The wedge salad was huge, and delicious with house-smoked bacon, homemade dressing, and outstanding bleu cheese crumbles. In addition to the prime rib, we enjoyed the crab cakes. They were very good. We ended with fabulous desserts - key lime pie that was the real deal, made in-house not the outsourced, artificially colored poser many restaurants serve. Bread pudding was crazy good - almost too sweet really. We enjoyed the meal with a remarkably reasonably priced 2014 Caymus - one of many well-curated options on the wine list. In summary, American Prime is one to watch for sure. Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a bad experience at Americna Prime tonite. I ordered the steak frites medium well which was overcooked and burnt. I asked the waiter about this and they did not even offer to get it replaced or offer any complimentary desert or anything which any other upscale steak restaurant would either replace the steak or give a desert complimentary. I asked the waiter to ask the manager to get me a desert and the waiter said that they won't do it and I would need to order desert. The prices are too high compared to their food quality which is just average and I would not recommend this high priced restaurant to anybody as their food quality is just average. The fries had too much salt and we also ordered creamed spinach which was ok. The waiter billed us for 2 iced teas when we had ordered only 1 iced tea and 3 sodas and we were billed for 4. I asked if they served any bread and the waiter said we would need to order bread which is complimentary in other places. There are several other steak restaurants in the area such as Ruth's Chris and Capital Grill at Tysons which are much better places to eat steak and prices are similar. Don't waste your money going to this place as its not worth it. We are not coming back to American Prime. I would recommend other places with better ambience and service as the place is...
