I like to try biscuits and gravy wherever I Am at. Dahlia is a hometown cafe here in Union Missouri that I eat at quite often but have never sat down and just had their biscuits and gravy. They are a place of Mexican American fusion even for breakfast. The biscuits were fluffy and light and good sized and the gravy was well made and spiced. I do think the biscuits were probably the type that come on a tray and the gravy was probably a mix type and not homemade but overall I'd give it probably a four out of 5 stars it was good. There is one thing that you need to know about Dahlia if you're coming to Union, they are a little bit higher priced than a lot of the local restaurants that you will see but I think their food is definitely worth it. However it might be a little high for biscuits and gravy for most people in the area. Also they have some of the best fresh squeezed orange juice you can ask for but you do pay for it, it's like $6 a glass but it is really good orange juice and I will definitely have more that's why I'm willing to pay that for that orange juice. So this is not somewhere you should go if you're on a really strict budget but it is a great place to have a breakfast date with your significant other. You can even drink and try their many different types of mimosas that they have on a regular menu. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal from...
Read moreWe recently ate breakfast at the Dahlia Cafe and we were not impressed. We each ordered The Classic, basically eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns or country fries ($13.99). The order came in an appropriate amount of time. I ordered the country fries which came way over-cooked and barely warm. There were two strips of bacon-one of which was so tough and it could not be cut with a knife. The house sausage? I don't know what spices were in it, but we definitely didn't like it. It really tasted strange. I don't like to leave meat on my plate, but there was no way I could finish it. No problem with the eggs. Most places include toast or biscuits as part of the meal. Two pieces of toast cost an additional $1.99. They had only flavored teas which I don't drink. I happened to have a tea bag in my purse. My husband had the same except he had the hash browns which was a huge portion. He, too, did not care for the sausage. He ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy which amounted to one small biscuit with gravy which was an additional $4.99. The total before tip was almost $40.00. I can't remember ever eating a breakfast that cost that much, especially since I basically provided my own drink and didn't have any toast. (That would have added an additional $5.00.) Maybe lunch would be better, but at this point, we are not even considering a...
Read moreThis has been my experience each time I have been here. Food is great! Love the coffee and endless amount of mimosas! I could eat here everyday! The breakfast chimichanga is my absolute favorite! Always very friendly and we are seated right away! Unfortunately, the service and speed has been terrible everytime I have been here. You can expect to be there atleast two hours. Typically it has taken over an hour to get our food. I usually have to order drinks for my friends beforehand so it's there by the time they arrive. This morning with our two small children we waited over an hour for our breakfast and the table next to us (who came in at the same time) ordered, ate and was finished before I had a chance to ask our waitress what was taking so long. Come to find out she never put our order in. When I asked her for an update she disappeared into the kitchen and then came out to take some time to drink her coffee instead. When another waitress asked how our meal was I was able to complain. Even the table next to us noticed our situation and we're not happy with the service. My husband said he doesn't want to eat there anymore which is a bummer because the food is delicious and the restaurant is just what this little town needed. But overall waiting over an hour everytime is just not acceptable. There definitely needs to be some...
