Upon arriving at IHOP, a short walk from 69th Street, I found myself along with two other customers were left to stand, waiting to be seated for an unusual amount of time. The dining area barely had customers. The male waiter I spotted and called out to, when he was nearby, just kept walking, when I asked if someone could seat us. A couple of times when he was on the other side of the room, he looked directly our way, but ignored us. No one else was visible at the time. Eventually, a waitress appeared, about 5 minutes later with a profuse apology, and seated us . Not a good way to start a dining experience. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese omelette and buttermilk pancakes. My omelette was more than delicious with cheese and bacon, interspersed between the layers, along with cheese on top, and more bacon. The cook, who made this made it a culinary masterpiece. I don't think every cook, could have duplicated this perfection. It came with pancakes included. IHOP pancakes, though I don't totally dislike them, are not my favorite. They could taste better, can't exactly put my finger on it, but everybody's else's pancakes taste better to me than at IHOP. However, once I put the butter and syrup on them, they are eatable enough, and palatable. Nothing to write home about though. My pet peeve is why so many waitresses , don't fully setup their customers before the food arrives ? I especially want to have the basics , such as, drinks, napkins and silverware. However, if you especially want to make me seethe inside, when it comes down to pancakes, I hate when a waitress forgets my sugar free syrup, even though it was requested , when I placed my order, and when it didn't arrive asked again , before my order arrived, yet still had to wait , until after my order came to receive it. I am not demanding, and am very respectful of hard working waitresses, and always tip. If it is busy, I understand, but if the place is barely full, I don't. Pancakes, cool off fast, and I don't I don't like them barely warm, because am waiting for syrup, I could of already had. My waitress was very pleasent , and personable but not as well organized as she could be. Even though I am on a bit of a rant about the sugar free syrup, putting that aside, she offered excellent customer service , and I would not mind sitting in her section repeatedly, because other than the syrup issue, afterwards, she did come back to check on me during service, more than once. She was excellent in her knowledge about the menu, before I ordered and was very helpful in getting me the exact combo platter, I wanted. I gave four stars , only because of the restroom. IHOP could do a better job of maintaining them. I have been to this IHOP , several times and the bathroom can range from horrible to just so so . There is a button to push, if the bathroom needs service. I waited a good ten minutes, to have a woman , pop her head in and just as quickly close the door, and never even spoke to me. No, I didn't like that smell, I got from unflushed toilets either. Had she stepped in, she would have also noticed dirty sinks, and a bathroom, that generally needed attention. Don't know whose job, it is to maintain, this area, but the dining area, has never been crowded, on my visits, when the restroom needed attention. Can't understand, why the restroom, can't be better maintained. The waitresses use it and a dirty restroom, makes me concerned , especially since these waitresses serve customers food. If the sinks are dirty to start with, exactly how sanitary is that in...
Read moreGood evening Google Family. I was so skeptical coming here today alas because of the location. 69th Street is a good location, well it used to be. Back in the day, this location was the place to shop for all of your personal and home shopping needs. In recent years this neighborhood location has deteriorated. The people are not the same and so many stores have closed their doors on 69th Street. I am not sure of the reason, whether it be finances or customers. Anyway, I decided to bring my great nephew here because we were leaving here after eating breakfast and going to the Zoo. I wanted to go someplace nearby for breakfast since MIchael claimed he was so hungry and I wanted to stay in close proximity to the zoo location. When we arrived around 10:05 am, no one came and seated us. There was a huge sign saying wait to be seated, but no one came. Michael and I seated ourselves. Mistake #1 on their part. I then got up and asked a party of 5 people who were employees, for a menu. They were all sitting in a booth. The one guy employee got up and gave us menus. He apologized. The young lady in the group assumed we were taking out. Why she assumed that, I do not know. They did have a lot of takeout orders. I was hoping that the young lady that I had encountered at the table, I hope she was not going to be our server. Well Alas, unfortunately for MIchael and me, she was. It took her awhile for her to come to us to see what we wanted to order. When she finally arrived, we gave her our order. Mistake #2 I didn't like the way she said to me when I repeated my order, both of our orders, her tone of voice. She said nastily, I heard you the first time. Her tone was not engaging or kind. It needs to be, she is in the wrong field, Customer Service. Michael ordered sausage links and chocolate chip pancakes. I ordered a bowl of grits and some turkey bacon. She brings us our order and before that she brought us our drinks. I asked for a child size for both of us, orange juice. I hate when they bring me a Large Glass when I clearly ask for a small glass. She seemed like an attitude again when I asked for two child size glasses. Also I asked for extra napkins and she clearly ignored my request. Mistake #3 I asked another server, a nice one and he did not hesitate to bring us more napkins. Michael decided he was full and he had enough. Now remember this 7 year old child bugged me about being hungry earlier. When I asked the server for a box, she brought it but she clearly had an attitude issue with me the entire time we were there. Our bill was $21.35 and I gave her cash money and no tip. I hated her disgruntled demeaner and I treated it as such. Even though I left no tip, I felt bad about it. My dad taught me to leave a tip even if the server is lousy, leave at least a $5.00 tip. IN this instance, this lady server needs to go to Manner school to learn how to talk to people. I am not mentioning any names since I clearly do not wish to throw her under the bus. I paid the bill and Michael and I exited. I clearly could not wait to leave there. I will never come here again, IHOP clearly dropped the ball here. I like IHOP but I will not patronize this location of IHOP EVER AGAIN!!! Have a great night Google Family, workout, be healthy, fit and...
Read moreHorrible!, Frightening Service, superstitiously it wasn't Friday the 13th, it was Friday evening April 2nd 2015, so there was no April fooling here either. I took my 12yr old daughter to dinner after she came back from her mom, an idea my co-workers drilled in my head. (I want my money back from my co-workers). The wait was too long despite that it wasn't crowded. There were several empty booths but we were seated in the middle table because the booths were not cleaned. We ordered our food as soon as the attendant came to get our order for drinks because we had ample time to look thru the menu while we "centurally", waited to be seated. My daughter and I started playing hand guessing games with a piece of tissue and Bible trivia on my phone to pass the "waiting period". There were two ladies seated in a booth on my left, when they got their food my jaw dropped!, not at the sight of their order, they were already sitting there while I was "centurally" waiting with my daughter to be seated, and if they just got their food when will our order come? Well, it's a 24hr restaurant I reminded myself, so I might have to txt my supervisor Chuck that I might be slightly be late for work tomorrow. I might be still waiting for my order. Our order finally came, mine was incomplete, my food consisted of Avocado and the attendant told me that their Avocado had gone bad. Surprised? Nope, they made my food without the Avocado but did not have the courtesy or the wisdom to consult me first if I wanted a different menu. Am over half century old and my wisdom tooth got pulled out decade ago, but these attendants are young with their wisdom tooth intact so they should be making wise decisions, "think again". Am not picky so I told the attendant its ok I will go ahead and eat my food minus the Avocado. My daughter's food consisted of bacon, she looked me and said "Daddy some part of my bacon is green", I moved her bacon aside and said "Please just eat the rest and let's go" I wanted to complain to the attendant about the "green bacon" but she never came back to our table. Well put it this way, Avocado is green, I couldn't have "green" on my plate so they embedded "green" in my daughter's bacon to compensate for my loss of "green", or that bacon was chlorophyll infused! Genius! This IHOP was not done! while we were eating they decided to "VACUUM" our eating area. I enjoyed the VACUUMMING part of my experience at this IHOP because the lady doing the Vacuum...
