Actually pretty awful food. Came for BBQ, got what essentially tastes like boiled meat. The foreshadowing started on the drive home with my to-go order in a bag. The odor filling the car was not the usual "this smells amazing and can't wait to eat it" but instead a "wow this smells rather unpleasant and I can't imagine why"
We tried "the Schantz" pulled pork and "the gobbler" turkey patty, along with a side of mac. Everything was a supreme disappointment. The meats were heated, unseasoned, not smoked, totally bland and tasteless. Texture of the pork was indicative of too high a temp (soft at first, and gets tacky and thready as you chew it), I'd guess above 200f. The turkey was a bizarre amalgamation of flavors but ultimately bland with an unpleasant arugula bitterness and nothing to balance it out. The pickles were not even pickles. You have to pickle something for it to become a pickle ffs. These were nasty bitter cucumber slices that weren't acidic not sweet. And I see the smoked Gouda has made its way into many offerings, except the one place it really belongs: the Mac n cheese! Which was clearly some generic supply. Again, tasteless.
Perspective: I'm a young guy and still have all my taste buds -not a fossil that thinks salt is the only measurement of flavor like my grandparents. Which btw seems to be the normal clientele here, and probably explains the bizarrely...
Read moreThis is one of those “ I can’t wait to go back” places. If slapping some cold cuts on a piece of bread with a smear of mayo is your idea of a great sandwich, this is NOT your place. Each sandwich, each component is crafted with passion. The twisted chicken was not overly spicy, so don’t be hesitant to try it. I finished it for dinner. The schantz was a moist delicious pulled pork creation. If you’re ever been subjected to a dry pulled pork sandwich, you will appreciate the savory texture of this flavorful beast. The potato pancakes were the best part, however. Crisp shredded potatoes spiced delicately with a touch of onion are without a doubt the best in the Lehigh Valley. One of us is a polish chef, and this passed with flying colors.
Plenty of parking. There are tables inside although all food is prepared for takeout, which is a good thing, because after the potato pancakes, I couldn’t finish the sandwich, so I closed the lid and I was on my way. There are bathrooms and the facility is clean.
A welcome island in a sea...
Read moreOrdering catering-size Meatballs and Chicken Parm today from The Wicked Chef elevated our school's Annual Staff Holiday Luncheon event to a new level. Generous portions of both dishes were picked up by a volunteer in the morning, and stayed hot and fresh through all teacher lunches after 2pm. The chicken and meatballs were delicious, and covered with the right amount of sauce to make an impression (we try to make it a special event for the teachers!) The serving trays were garnished with pepperoncini peppers, the owner provided extra side dishes of peppers and parmesan cheese. You could tell the order itself was neatly packaged in high quality, yet disposable, serving dishes. Food was delicious and teachers loved it!! It was affordable for our PTO (public school, volunteer based, not-for-profit), and we know the owner threw in extra for us knowing it was going to people in his community. THANK YOU...
