Olde Towne Inn — Restaurant in Upper Marlboro

Worst experience ever in a restaurant. Came in with my 2 daughters. We were not greeted or sat so we sat ourselves took a while for them to come to the table. The girl was rude and impatient. The seats are old and sink in, very uncomfortable. Menu prices went up and food quality went down. It was about 20 minutes from walking in that we were sat and got drinks. It was a Monday night, not busy enough for slow business. It took another 10+ minutes after the drinks to get asked what we would like to order to eat. I chose to order apps and food same time because the way it was looking it would be a while before we would be eating. It took 30 minutes to get bread and calamari. Then 5 minutes after the apps come the food comes. We hadn’t even barely touched the apps. When we tasted the food everyone of us made a weird face and said it’s extra fishy and mushy. So I asked for a manager and the girl came back and said he’s in a meeting so I told her I am upset I’m hungry I been here over an hour I want to leave. The owner comes out and has a mean mug on his face and a very aggressive demeanor. I’m a woman there’s no need to get big and cocky and aggressive with me. I complained and he argued with my complaint. He asked me how is the salmon watery he hasn’t had a complaint all day. I told him he can go look at it. He was standing over the table like he was trying to be over me and down play me. He’s yelling at this point so loud that the whole restaurant is engaged. So I got louder and stood up and told him I’m leaving give me a check for what was eaten and I’m out. The 2 women servers were holding him back. My daughter said she’s scared she thinks he’s going to hit me. I felt threatened so I called my husband and then the local authority. He said and I quote,” call who you want, it won’t end well.” Then walked out the side door and back inside.at this point I paid so I left. I got in my car, which was parked right in front of the court house, to wait for the officer to come. The owner Mr Long followed me and my children outside thru the other side door and paced the front of the courthouse. He continued to do this 3-4 times. I told my daughter to record it. He then went back in and came out with another man. I’m not sure how you feel it’s okay to do this to a woman and her children. The police came and I made a report and left. This is beyond disgusting behavior to match the disgusting food and disgusting service provided. Now I see why your on Groupon olde town inn. Highly suggest reconsidering your visit. I could have gave him some tips, im a chef myself and make a really good stuffed salmon. Unfortunately he chose to go straight...

This was My First time dining at OTI upper Marlboro. It was a last minute put together thing. I was ahead of my party upon entering, either it was Understaffed this day and nobody wanted to come in , or this restaurant was ran in a whoooole different way.

As I'm used to there's a hostess, a couple of waitresses/servers on hand and a bar person and busser it was NONE OF THAT!!!.. it was ONE person doing a Multi persons job which was horrible because people were still coming in while tables needed items or to be waited on!. The one person in there handling EVERYTHING needs a definite pay raise because I'm certain it was overwhelming as hell. it was 10:00am and pretty much due to it being very understaffed everything was a wait!!. We had to get the woman (the only one there) behind the bar to come take our orders!!

I ordered the Catfish and Cheese Grits, the other two in my Party ordered Chicken and waffles and Catfish and Waffles with a side of grits. My food was really Good! I'm skeptical about catfish but the batter was just right not salty the fish itself was meaty, the portion of it was to pair with each spoon I took of cheesy grits!! very satisfying indeed. My party and I really enjoyed our meals so that made up for the long wait times and customer service a little bit. It seems this location is one of those just to get by types and I don't mean like Talib Kweli good way either.

I trust if it was at least a Hostess at the door because people don't like feeling like they're not being acknowledged and ignored when they walk into a place wanting to patronise the business. Also having at least 2 staff members on the floor my experience would've been much better, while I don't regret trying OTI the lack of didn't make it my Go-to for a weekday maybe at night it's better staffed and customer service so I'll try during that time Thankfully the Food...

I considered giving 1 star but that wouldn't be fair. My reasoning is as followed:

The audience this restaurant targets and the lack of competition provide enough justification for some but not all of the food prices. Overall, the food is decently prepared but you must keep in mind that this isn't a cultural or innovative restaurant ... it does basic well and that's about where it stops.

Now on Aug 26th, I arrived with my family at 1245 for an early bday brunch and the service was soo terrible that I had to clean my own table after watching 5 tables which needed cleaning for about 15 min or so. You would think the staff would immediately recognize how badly they started our dinning experience but nope. We had to request for menus (another couple had to do the same) and once the food finally showed up, wait for utensils for another 5 min. I deapedesper wanted to leave but my wife's desire to claim her Groupon (which they almost didn't approve) made me stay until we could no longer deal with it and asked for to go plates.

Now, I've eaten at restaurants all over the world (Asia, Europe, Australia, North/South America and Africa) ... never have I lost my appetite, ever! I hope the owner of this establishment gets to see this, it wasn't the food it was the terrible service. I know what it means to be in the restaurant industry from 2+ years of experience and it's "extremely" obvious this establishment is improperly managed! Hire better staff or at least augment what you already have because it doesn't take long for competition to drive you out...
