So the Cage has been open 2 weeks and we’ve been there 3 times. Here’s what we experienced. If you don’t want to read the particulars, then I would say it’s a fantastic place for cocktails and food, reasonably priced., but if it’s cold outside, ask to be sat away from the door.
Drinks: they are known for fantastic cocktails, at least at the Warrington location, and this location doesn’t disappoint. Their cocktail list is solid, but they can also make anything you want. We did brunch the first weekend and had the Gate 4 old fashioned and their house Bloody Mary. We returned today and had some more old fashioneds, a couple paper planes, a Pandora’s box, a Cleats Up, and a mezcal drink created by the bartender (Jon?). All were fantastic and reasonably priced considering the quality.
Food: Brunch was delicious. Portions were very fair for the price. There were 6 of us and we all tried something different. We were sat in the bird cage table which was a very cool experience. It was a very mild day, so we weren’t impacted by the constant breeze coming into the space as customers came and went (More on that below). We returned for dinner the next night (me, wife, 2 kids). We ordered several items from the “all day” menu and again, all was delicious. I believe we had a salad, sweet chili wings, and some flat breads. We received the wrong salad, but my wife dealt with it. I wish the server had made a bit more of a fuss when we told her we rec’d the wrong salad, but she said the one we got was $3 cheaper so we got lucky. We would have preferred to pay for what we wanted, so I think that could have been handled differently. Regardless, another very good experience, except for our table location. This time we were 3-4 tables from the entrance and my wife and kids had to eat with their jackets on to stay warm.
Service: Everyone we have interacted with has been extremely friendly, engaged, and happy to be there. We’ve been asked how we’re enjoying our experience. We’ve been thanked on the way out. Managers are in suits. Bartenders guided us through the drink menu and asked us our preferences before suggesting unique customized drinks. All around, very professional. Again, only complaint was the server not acknowledging the salad mistake and playing it off like we got a deal.
Atmosphere: very cool, unique setting. Not a simple facelift from the old Bertuccis. It is currently decorated for Christmas so it will be interesting to see what decor changes they make as the seasons change. I would recommend walking the whole restaurant before leaving to check out the other table options, the bird swing, and the digital screen that is where the open kitchen area used to be. Very cool setting. However there is no vestibule to keep heat in/cold out. If you’re sat anywhere near the door on a cold day, you will feel a breeze. Staff said they’re looking into supplemental heat. But be aware, you will want to sit farther into the restaurant on a cold day.
I’d give this place a 4.5 out of 5. I read the other sub-par reviews and while I can’t comment on their experiences, I can say this place has only been open 2 weeks. For a perspective of my review, i spent about 10 years in the bar/restaurant business. I live in Warminster and my family goes out to eat probably more than we should. We have some very strong options in the Southampton/Warminster area, and I’m proud to be friends with the owners of those locations. The Cage has certainly made an effort to set themselves apart from our current options. We wish them well and we will...

Read moreThe Cage is great for fun cocktails and atmosphere, delicious food, table service is great, our server Alisha was great, the lack of stars has nothing to do with any of that. But management needs to work on their booking system and customer service. The handful of times I've been here, everything is great up until your "slot" is nearing the end. Don't plan on overstaying your welcome or they'll let you know... I understand it's a popular spot and they're trying to shove in as many reservations as possible, but to do so at the expense of asking a group of 6 people to leave, who's at a $750+ bill after 2.5 hours is pretty crazy. Which is what happened to us the other day when out for a friend's birthday. I actually thought the manager (young guy in a suit jacket constantly lurking and staring until you wrap up) was being nice, coming over to touch the table and check in on us, but he was actually just there to let us know there were people waiting for our table. I'm sorry but kindly read the room, sir. We were not sipping water or just taking up space, we all had full drinks and had ordered appetizers and entrees, (which came out at the same time clearly in an attempt to move us along), we all got dessert, plenty of cocktails the entire time and shots...again spending a lot of money.
This new establishment is much larger and holds many more people, you can afford to not kick out a group when their "time is up," when they are spending so much money. I'm not saying you need to let people stay all night, but maybe if guests are actively drinking and ordering things, give them a little extra time. Oh and group size doesn't matter. I've been here with just a party of 2 and once that timer is almost up, the hostesses will start hovering, stalking your table, walking by and staring to see if you'll be done soon. It's really kind of crazy. If you have to sacrifice the comfort of your guests enjoying their time at a normal pace to pay your bills then maybe you should see where you can...
