I visited Maggio's Friday night, June 30, 2023 with two friends around 9pm or so with friends for a late dinner after work. Since it was late, we decided to sit at the bar. We had no idea it was karaoke night which was fine. After being seated and placing our order, more people were funneling in for karaoke. While waiting for our food to come out, I noticed to my right an older couple standing at the bar. They had been trying to get the only bartender on duty's attention. He was also the only server for all of the tables. Once they were able to get his attention, the woman was pleading to order anything, even just fries or a pretzel as she was not feeling well. The husband tried as well and explained that his wife is diabetic. This caught my attention as the woman was next to me, appeared to look very pale, sweating and her head started nodding. The bartender just kept saying it was too late to order and the kitchen is closing. As the husband kept pleading, I had his wife sit down. My food had just arrived. I immediately grabbed a small bread plate and scooped half of my platter on it and gave it to her. We got her to eat and after a half an hour, she began looking and feeling better. Her husband wanted to pay for my meal but I certainly wouldn't let him. They both were so grateful. Really Maggio's for denying help when the woman clearly was going into shock? People were getting ready to call an ambulance, she was clearly sick! The real kicker is at approx 11:40pm, the bartender came out with a full hot sandwich for himself with fries and stood there and ate it behind the bar Infront of patrons! It was just made and hot on a plate. Plus, Maggio's has signs posted on the bar area "to be kind to the staff and be patient while waiting for service because they are short staffed". How ironic!! This was beyond poor judgement, rude, inconsiderate, and terrible service! All of my coworkers who are local were in shock and clearly stated they will find somewhere else for now on. What has this...
Read moreI attended a funeral reception here 15 years ago. Nice clean place back then, with good food. So we decided to try it today. May 11. Mother's Day. As soon as we entered the vestibule I knew it was a mistake - dirty, unswept/not vacuumed, dried leaves scattered everywhere. They lack the smarts to keep the entrance clean. Once inside, we encountered a group of stressed out employees at the reception desk ; horrible, ear drum breaking noise, from what I'm not sure. I asked the hostess if it was loud music I was hearing. Looking confused. she responded ,with an apologetic grin, ' No, it's just the restaurant ." ; tables crammed together, a huge big screen TV ,on the wall, in, I assume , a sports bar right next to the restaurant. Open space, no wall between the restaurant and the loud noisy bar atmosphere. The help greeted us nicely till they found out we had no reservation ; then proceeded to ignore us, acting like they were doing us a favor , while nervously running around like chickens without heads looking for a table. THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST ATMOSPHERE OF ANY RESTAURANT ANYWHERE !! . Just being in the place for two minutes causes major anxiety and a panic attack. BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS - READ THEM FIRST. Save yourself the time and energy of even trying it, and especially SAVE YOUR MONEY $$$. Says online $20 to $30 a person. I wouldn't give them a lead nickel. I can imagine how bad the food is. In my opinion, booze is their main $$$ source of revenue. Restaurant just the sideline. Their online alcohol menu is as long as the Encyclopedia Britannica. We walked out, never to return. Oh, BTW, I called first to find out if they were crowded. and the man who answered was really rude. Didn't even answer the phone properly. Just picked up and clicked on hold. I had to ask him " is this Maggios ?", to which he sarcastically responded, " yes and what can I do for you?", implying I'm an idiot to be phoning them. AVOID MAGGIOS !! AWFUL, LOUD. SMELLY....
Read moreI can not say enough good things about this restaurant and the amazing staff! Thank you all so incredibly much for taking care of my family and I on Wednesday. My father passed away and we had his funeral brunch at maggio's afterward. It was absolutely wonderful the food was incredible as always. Oh my God the peanut butter pie was my favorite đ. That was the one dessert that there was none left at the end I would have so taken The Leftovers home! I was so bummed. They had us in the front and it felt like it was private. We opted to do the taste of philly Sam and Lewis organized it for me completely on line over email everything went perfectly. My father may he rest in peace would have absolutely loved it. All his favorite things! Stromboli, cheesesteaks w. Toppings, hoagie's, fries, tastykakes, soft pretzels. I'm probably missing something lol there's just so much food it was so wonderful. We also opted to do the upgraded dessert bar which I highly recommend there was the peanut butter pie, cheesecake, chocolate cake, tiramissu. Everything went so quickly that was probably the best thing That we did. Our server Brian was amazing so sweet can't say enough good things loved him! Everything came out hot! We didn't have to worry about anything which was Super great especially because guests were coming before we got there since we got held up at the funeral home.Though they were able to start eating no problem the seating was amazing.I was worried because we ended up having a lot of people who did a no show they said no problem they packed up leftovers which was amazing! There was tons of leftovers! Lots of food I never had to worry about not having enough. I definitely look forward to another event with them and I will tell everybody how great they are. Thank...
