I wasn't in a great mood when I started searching Google maps for a place nearby that had good burgers. Almost went to 5 Guys, but came upon this place in my search and decided to give it a try. Although the food was great, the bartender definitely didn't want to deal with me. Perhaps it's because I wasn't drinking alcohol, so he didn't think he'd receive a decent tip from me (which he was wrong). Or, maybe it's because I was alone. Who knows? The point is, I definitely noticed that those at the bar who were drinking alcoholic beverages definitely received more attention. I'm sorry my presence at the bar didn't seem worthwhile, but I believed sitting at the bar was better than taking a whole table to myself. I ended up staying longer than I wanted because the lack of attention kept my food from being ordered. That's 1 star being taken away.
As for everything else, the Wass burger was fantastic! However, I would've loved some mustard with the fries it came with. I never got the mustard because of the above mentioned bartender. I enjoyed the appetizer of tater tots, with the exception of the sour cream. It didn't taste fresh. The very thin slice of carrot cake for dessert was almost insulting that I even bothered to stick around for 20 minutes after after finishing my burger, waiting for neglectful bartender (again). As for my drink, I ordered an Arnold Palmer. I wish I had been informed they didn't have sweet tea, but what can elect being north of the Mason-Dixon. The only non-alcoholic beverage listed on the menu was an O'doul's. No mention of soda, tea, etc. The food was, imo, worthy of 4 stars. Really good for a pub.
The live music was a fantastic surprise. The songs played, Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash), Mary Jane's Last Dance (Tom Petty), etc make it very difficult to be in a bad mood. I've already recommended this place to a few friends, but with the warning about the...
Read moreI’m giving 3 stars because I’ve never had an issue here before, but yesterday’s experience was rough enough to take away two.
My boyfriend’s mom and sister arrived before me and were seated at a high-top. When I got there, I mentioned that I had reserved a dining room table and asked if they were comfortable staying or would rather move, since his mom said the chair was wobbly and hard to get in and out of.
I went over to the blonde hostess and said, “Hi, I had reserved a dining room table, would we be able to switch?” She replied in a really rude tone, “That’s not how this works. I don’t know if you can see, but we’re full and most likely don’t have a dining room table.” Who says that to a guest? It was completely unprofessional. I said, “I reserved it though,” and she repeated, “That’s not how this works,” before finally saying, “Let me go check.”
Honestly, all she needed to say was, “Let me see what’s available.” Instead, she came off dismissive and condescending. She came back less than a minute later and said there was a table after all, walked us over, dropped the menus, and left without saying a word or making eye contact. If reserving a specific kind of table “isn’t how this works,” then that option shouldn’t be offered when booking. Based on her attitude, I’d say working in customer service might not be the right fit for her.
Our server was sweet but not very attentive, she didn’t check on us much. The food and drinks also weren’t great this time, which was disappointing because I normally enjoy eating here. The French toast was deep fried into a literal brick. impressive, just not edible.
I understand it was probably a long Halloween weekend for the staff, but the overall experience was...
Read moreKitty that service was so poor on my recent visit to steam pub as my experience in the past generally has been good. Stop in New year's Eve a bit after 4 and sat at the corner seat of the bar closest to the front door. The bartender I initially encountered, thin wearing glasses, gave what I suppose is his version of a greeting but not mine as bartending is a hospitality line of work. Didn't smile ask me what I wanted to drink I asked for a menu and glass of water at which point he promptly disappeared to the other end of the bar where apparently you should sit if you want any kind of decent service as he never came back to check on me I had to flag him down to place my order which took forever for two sliders and some wings. The other bartender, taller young man, when I was able to flag him down for my check at the end again from the other end of the bar at least he was far more pleasant. I realize they were preparing for their New year's Eve party that started around 8 however there is no excuse to literally abandoned customers at the far end of the bar. The food was good and happy hour prices always make things taste better. The 3rd star on this visit is for the pleasant bartender and food. I will definitely be back however I will remember to sit as far away from the front door as possible if I want any kind of...
