Amazing hidden gem of an ice cream shop! Tons of flavors to choose from, they have traditional milk based ice creams as well as water based ones that are more like a sorbet. They have common flavors as well as lots of tropical fruit flavors like mango, lime, and pineapple, and some interesting ones like avocado, corn, and even a cheese flavored ice cream. (Try it, it's actually really good!) They offer little free tastes so you can pick a flavor you like.
Their specialty is chamoyada, which is ice cream, usually mango flavored, topped with chunks of fruit, a sweet red sauce called chamoy, and sprinkled with a hot pepper powder on top. It's really an interesting combination of flavors, but not everyone will like it, so if you haven't had it try a small.
They have so many flavors of awesome paletas (ice cream popsicles) like oreo, coconut, and strawberry, or my favorite, rice, which is like horchata (rice milk with cinnamon and sugar). Also really good chocolate dipped frozen bananas rolled in rainbow sprinkles!
The banana splits are also really good, and big enough for 2 to share!
The staff has always been very welcoming and helpful, and are always willing to explain any flavors or menu items you don't understand, or offer you free tastes!
Plenty of indoor seating, and a couple patio tables outside too, so you can enjoy the nice weather on warm days!
I'll definitely be coming back for more ice cream! There's so many flavors that I want to try, I find myself picking flavors ahead for my next visit days in advance!
Highly recommended, great for kids and...
Read moreI love this little Mexican ice cream shop on Cunningham. It's tucked away in the little strip mall behind Walgreens, I'm surprised more people don't come here but that's okay with me, less crowded so I can get my desserts faster. I got the coconut paleteria, made with real coconut chunks, it's authentic just like you would find all over Mexico and it was so good. The ice cream scoops I got was spicy chocolate, strawberries and cream and corn. The spicy chocolate had a hint of heat, the strawberries and cream was probably my favorite and corn ice cream had little pieces of corn, reminded a little of corn bread but you could taste the natural sweetness of the corn, I recommend. This is a great place to grab something cold on a hot day. They also served sandwiches and tamales if you were a little more hungry and wanted something more filling. They had so many varieties of Mexican flavors I have to come back and try them all. Great for groups or after a dinner date....
Read moreI stopped in here while waiting for a prescription to be filled at Walgreens... and I'm very glad I did! My daughter and I are ice cream snobs and our finicky selves were rewarded with fabulousness! The owners make all their own ice creams, and the flavor selection? Just WOW! They had everything from the norm to the exotic and dairy free options as well. Being a Mexican-owned shop, they had tamarind and spicy-pineapple sorbets, which we sampled and enjoyed, but their Mexican chocolate...the Virgin Mother smiled upon that one! The scoops were HUGE, the owner friendly and gracious and we will be...
