Espresso Royale Cafe - Oregon Street — Restaurant in Urbana

I'd rate this cafe higher if the consistency was better. I've had delicious mochas with lots of chocolate sauce and I've also had literal unsweetened cocoa powder mixed into my drink. I've had fantastic service very nice people and I've also had people snap at me when I'm trying to ask questions. The line can get long on busy days, and they could really used more workers or better organization.

Furniture could use a reupholstering. I ordered a caffe latte and received a matcha latte, but I know it's hard to hear. I wish the cashier had confirmed the order if it was unclear. Milk alternatives are 80 cents.

I visited a second time and service was definitely better. They put in my order correctly but their portion sizes are terrible. I got a regular latte with oat milk and more than half was the milk foam. For $6 I expected my drink not to be entirely milk foam. Very disappointed. This Espresso Royale location would rate 5stars with me if not for the filthy condition inside. I've been here several times recently and it's always the same--crumbs all over the counters and eating surfaces, crumbs and debris all over the floor. The floors are so unclean you almost stick to them as you walk. This is a shame because the coffee and the food are outstanding! It is also a shame that the young people that work here either are not being taught the value of keeping a restauarant clean or they simply don't care to. There is an "ABC" rule in restaurant management --Always Be Cleaning. The cleanliness of your customer-facing areas symbolize the pride you have in your establishment and how you value your customers. At this ER location, it seems that the customers are taken for granted and the apathy towards the cleanliness and aesthetics of the store...

I only go here because it’s the closest coffee shop to my department. I rather go somewhere else 1000%. Every time I come here, I always leave disappointed. Today I was the only person in line and somehow my breakfast sandwich took 15 mins to be handed to me. It wasn’t until someone asked me if I was waiting on something. Yeah maybe the only breakfast sandwich back there? I also hate how they never mix the syrup. As a former barista my manager always made sure we mixed people’s drink so that the first sip they take isn’t just syrup. I will continue going here because desperate times call for desperate measures and I would consider this a desperate measure. Again as a former barista I love tipping other coffee shops but this is the only place I never tip at because of the reason that I always leave...
